Hope it's ok to chime in.. I had my surgery on the 11th. Is anyone else missing food as much as me? I feel so beat down!

Oh yeah, I'm missing food. I dream about food almost every night. I'd sure love a slice of pizza, but I just keep telling myself this post op diet isn't forever I will be able to enjoy food again, but now instead of eating half a pizza ill be satisfied with a slice or less :) when are you cleared to start regular foods? I have one more week to go and I can start introducing soft foods

Btw I like your username :) jkfletch

I have been doing really good with yogurt, and cottage cheese. I tried some softly scrambled eggs and that was good. I just had to eat really slow. I also made some cream of wheat (kinda soupy) and that was good too. I found that every time I want to add something new to my diet I just have to eat it really slow so that I can feel if my tummy is going to like it or not. I can normally tell in a bite or two how I am going to take it. Good luck everyone :) Keep up those liquids :)

Two of my friends had the surgery before me.. both at different hospitals. My one friend 8 months out says a half slice of pizza and she is good. For the most part she does well to eat healthy. My other friend one year out says.. "it's not what you eat it's how much you eat." both have lost 80lbs. I know everyone's journey is different, I just pray for a successful one.

Just started soft foods. It's been a new experience. I am enjoying it. I am down 32 lbs so far. Almost half way to my goal. I, like everyone else, I hope have the struggle with getting the fluids in along with Protein.< /p>

That seems like a long time. Are you on full liquids? I had eggs day 9. Started puréed day 14 and I start soft foods on the 9th even though I've had some already per the nutritionist.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
