January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I am just checking in. I was up 2 pounds on the scale yesterday, which was very disappointing, but I got my period today, so hopefully that is the reason for the gain. I've only walked one day this week and went to the gym once. It has been such a crazy week and now the weekend is here, but it is my weekend to work. Hopefully next week will be better for my exercise schedule. Have a great weekend!

Gigi

Hi,

Minor victory here. I put on a pair of jeans that usually I have to suck in to fasten, let alone get on after washing them and they were loose!! No change on the scale tho.

Hope all is well.

Sula- That is great! What a wonderful feeling! Good for you!!You must be losing inches.:clap2::clap2::clap2: Keep up the good work! Gigi

Got to move us back to page 1!

Well, my house officially goes up for sale on Monday, so we have a LOT of work to do today. We are finishing up some little fix-up projects, moving more stuff to the storage unit, and doing a deep clean. I am starting to get a little bit stressed out about how I'm going to keep this place in shape for people coming through. It's hard to keep a lived-in house "show"-ready. I'll do what it takes though, because I really want out! ;)

I've been tracking my calories the last two weeks, and I think I've found part of my plateau problem. Although I'm only getting in 1000-1300 cals a day, my fat grams have been up in the 50s. Yikes! I need to find some easy lean Protein.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hello everyone,

Yesterday was the monthly seminar that my surgeon gives for people considering surgery. As an established patient I volunteer to go and talk to anyone who might have questions. I had someone say to me (who is also a patient) "Hi, are you thinking about having surgery? Which surgery?" I was so mad, sad, stunned, frustrated. I'm sure this person didn't mean to be offensive but the way she worded her question was terrible. I just smiled and said, "I am already a patient, I had LapBand surgery in January."

I have been so depressed - people are so careless and can be so rude!

I am down 55 lbs. I went to a dietician for a "private lesson" last week and she said I am doing fine and am actually ahead of the National Average of weight loss for LapBand patients. Although I feel like I am losing the weight kind of slow, my skin looks good as I build much needed muscle so I try to remember that. I average about 1,500-1,800 calories a day, exercise about 20-60 minutes a day and she said that is definitely perfect. She thought I was at my "sweet spot" as far as fills because I can eat solid foods but not much!

My Protein intake averages 100-120 g per day and she said that was plenty and to be careful not to go any higher. She encouraged me to increase my Metamucil (or any Fiber supplement) to twice a day since I can't get in enough fruits and vegetables. She was adamant about taking my Vitamins and Calcium (I am post-menopausal.)

I was getting severe cramps while swimming and she told me I needed more potassium. I am trying to eat a half of a banana per day and a couple of prunes. I also drink diluted Gatorade or Vitamin Water before and after swimming and that has helped a lot.

Hopefully, these tips can help some of you - I thought it was a very beneficial appt. This dietician is so awesome...her motto is "all foods, fit." In other words, there are no good or bad foods. That is nice since I have really struggled with a binge disorder and the minute someone tells me I can't have something, it seems to be all I want.

Love to you all!

Jennifer

Juno-610-Best of luck to you on selling your house. Do you have another home that you are interested in? It sure is hard keeping your house "show ready". Good luck to you!

I have been on a plateau for the past month. I can't figure out why though. I see the nutritionist in a couple of weeks. Hopefully she can help figure it out. Good luck to you! Gigi:)

Hello all, life is hectic right now so I haven't even been able to get on the computer - here is what is going on. I went on my cruise and on the 2nd day of the cruise, I slipped and fell, I tore my ACL legament and my MCL, and ripped my cartledge (sp?). Anyhow, I'm off work on medical leave and having surgery tomorrow to repair it, or replace it, I'm using a donor ACL.

Also, when we returned last Sunday, we found our house had completely flooded, EVERY ROOM.

But, besides all this, we had a good time on the cruise. I'm attaching our family portrait. This was taken the night before I got hurt.

sorry for the HUGE picture, I tried to go back and edit the post and make the picture smaller, but it wouldn't let me.

I also had a fill last Friday I'm up to 3.4 cc's and finally feeling a little restriction, I'm going to schedule another fill and hopefully I will hit my sweet spot!

Welcome back Tonya! We missed you! That completely blows about your leg. How did your house get flooded?

Its good to be back! The tubing in the back of the refridge (the one for the ice maker and water), it cracked and leaked everywhere. You wouldn't think that little tube could do that much damage, but let me tell you, it sure did! Buy oh well, it could have been worse. My house is still salvagable, its just a complete mess right now.

My surgery is tomorrow afternoon, so I'm sure I'll be on drugs for the next few days and be knocked out, but I'll check in as soon as I'm up to it.

I miss my exercise! I haven't been able to exercise in 2 weeks now, sucks. I am at a stand still with my weightloss!

Sunshine, That is a beautiful picture of a beautiful family. You good great! That is so amazing to be able to go on a cruise and not gain about 10 pounds.

I'll be praying for you during surgery, and hope to see you back on line soon.

PS I went with my family on a cruise at end of July with about 20 people because my daughter was married during port stop in Jamaica. Wedding was lovely. I'm worried about all the people we met in Jamaica while we were there. Still haven't heard back from any of them by email.

Hurry back and get well soon.

Terry

ME TOO Terry!

My family took the same cruise Tonya did - out of Galveston, on the Carnival Conquest to Jamaica, the Grand Caymans and Cozumel the week of July 22nd through the 29th and we are all worried about our sweet Dolphin Cove tour guide, Mitsue and our bus driver.

My kids have asked about them several times in the last few days with all the news coverage of the Hurricane. I wish there was some way we could know that they are okay . . .

Tulip (Terry) ~

I was just looking at your numbers and noticed that you have 2.6cc in your band.

I have a 4cc band too and have 2.2cc in there now.

I am wondering if I need another fill - ??? I am curious if you know how much difference you FEEL with a little more fill . . . Some days I can eat anything and other days I can hardly get anything down.

Does that question even make sense???

Thanks,

Lynn

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
