Thanks Gigi!

The 11 days will go by fast! I just realized that I have to pack tomorrow (Sunday) since our flight leaves really early Tuesday morning, and I have to work on Monday! Yikes!

I'm checking in too Audree! Can't get rid of the gas pains....seems to have gotten stuck up in my ribs or something! Husband thought maybe it was the muscle where the band was placed but there is a sharp pain and then a lot of belching....kids think it's funny! If it wasn't for the gas pains I would be fantastic! I still can't beleive I have a band!!!!!! For supper tonight husband went to a Chinese restaurant and got me some eggdrop Soup, pulverized it in the Magic bullet and it was great. Of course there was enough there for about 3 meals!!! This is going to be such a life changing experience.

That's great to hear! I live in a town where they don't do the lapband...yet, just RNY. Since I am having my surgery out of state, I had to find a "local" Dr. 2 hours away in Madison,WI for follow up care. I hope to attend their support group meetings so I can hear and SEE others with the band. It's really drives it home then.

Hopefully, I can become the unoffical lapband posterchild/spokesperson of my town and get more people on the BANDwagon! =0)

Did she say if she exercises a lot? (I plan to, but I do like to hear that the band works even for those who have difficulty with exercise.)

Hi Steph..Congratulations!!! I hope it goes smoothly!!!:) For Protein my nitritionist recomended any whey Protein Powder. I use the EAS Whey vanilla flavored...it tastes like powdered milk. I usually mix it w/ ice cold Water, skim milk or now light soy milk (thanks to BGB) The powders come in many flavors...I also use Unjury (this is the best tasting hands down) (www.UNJURY.com) Good Luck and keep us posted!

Hello everyone!

I can't believe that I only have 9 more days to go when I get up tomorrow!! I have been reading what everyone is saying about protein and nectar sounds good, any input?? Also, what about the unjury referenced above?? Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Audree,

I think it is so cute that people are naming their bands. I think my hubby started something!! I have a new saying too - "Be true to your bellly band!"

Christine

Can't wait for the belly band! 9 days to go....

Hey all, I have a quick question for anyone, did any of you experience blurred vision? I can't even see the computer right now. I'm typing blindly, really weird. I'm wondering if its the pain meds?

I pray that my days in ballys will help it be minimal. sorry 4 going on. hey I said I was nervous. I think I have everything: liquid tylenol regular and pm. gas x chewable, chewable Calcium, whey Protein, Soup, Water, milk, juice. I premade my puree and froze it in ice trays. I have plenty of popsicles, and I bought the glacial milk Vitamins. all I have to buy is my better than bouillon. how soon can I drive?

:) Hi CHristine - UNJURY is what the nutritionists at Bayste Medical Center in Springfield, MA will recommend for all Bariatric surgery patients (at least for Dr. Fiallo's and Dr. Haag's patients). It's a whey protein and it's the best tasting one I've tried...Even by itself in skim milk tastes good. It comes in chicken broth, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry sorbet (YUMMY)The only way you can get it around here is online. It's a bit pricy but worth it....let me know if you try it and what you think...Good luck on your surgery and keep me posted!!!:)

Hey date twin! I'm getting nervous too. I had a bad headache last night, and I know it was nerves. I'm glad I'll be busy today getting all my stuff packed up for this week. I am staying with my mom for a couple days after surgery.

I'm nervous about the hanging skin too. Especially since my boobs are humongous, LOL! They're already hanging from the weight, I'm scared to see what they'll look like deflated. Oh well, that's what miracle bras are for, right?:)

I need to take pictures today too. My official befores... yikes! Oh yeah, and I found out my surgery is going to be at 7:30am, so I'll have to be at the hospital at 5:30. I was so glad I got the early slot. Less time to be nervous in the morning.

Maria

Sunshine....YES! I couldn't focus on anything for a couple of days. The anesthesiologist said that some of the meds they gave me could cause blurriness. We were banded on the same day and I'm finally clear headed today(Sunday). I couldn't even read or see to sign the waiver during the barium swallow. Good luck, but if it doesn't clear in a day or two I would definitely call the doctor.

This morning the vision is a little better, but not completely okay. I still can't see with my glasses, or anything up real close is just a blur. But I can barely see the computer today and yesterday I couldn't, so I think my vision is improving.

I'm not as sore today either as I was yesterday, however, still sore. I'm weaning myself off the pain meds and jsut going to take the liquid tylenol for now.

To all the new bandsters, as soon as I am well enough to see the computer, I will get everyone new added to the master list.

Well, I think I am going to go for a walk up and down my hallway, too icey outside to walk. I need to start moving, I've been laying around too much.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
