I'm 6 months out and tried a spoonful of rice and became very ill. I'm too scared to try Pasta. The only thing close to pasta has been spaghetti squash which I truly love.

I use dreamfield Pasta it is low carb. taste like regular pasta. It says on box only like 5 gram carbs or something close to that. I do know it doesnt run my blood sugar up like regular pasta does. So it must be very low carb.

There have been some studies about dreamfields pasta and how it might not bee all that it claims. If you have some time google it and see if that might give you some insight.

I didn't do this so I could never eat again :) Most people aren't allowed Pasta until their stomach is healed so that shouldn't be a concern. Some people tollerate it better than others. My family goes to spaghetti night every Wednesday at my friends local restaurant. I have meat sauce with pasta (I can only eat about 1/3 cup pasta with some sauce...total 1/2 cup food) and I love it. I never go over my carb limits and I also plan it so I meet my Protein goals.

And I have it with a nice glass of red wine :P

This should be life with the sleeve. Kale pasta? BLEH (sorry but umm BLEH)

If I have something like spaghetti carbonara at home I do make it with whole wheat pasta which I enjoy. Still not much, but I enjoy it on occasion and I'm losing weight just fine. :)

As usual Iggychic is the voice of reason :) I have pasta, I have wine, I have whatever I want. I can only eat 3-4 ounces max anyway, so that much of anything isn't going to kill me. I get all my protien in and my labs are perfect. I am below goal weight. So if I feel like taking a couple of bites of pasta, or bread, or whatever it is, I do. If I had wanted to count and obsess over every bite I would have just stayed on Weight Watchers. As with anything in life, balance and moderation is the key. (This of course does not apply to those not yet allowed to eat solids or those with carb sensitivities.)

I haven't eaten any kind of pastas. I only like spaghetti and rice. We eat more rice at my home than anything. Kids love mexican rice and cinnamon rice both very fattening...lol. I have a list from my NUT about carbs and servings. I can have anything I want but I have to choose what I eat and how much. My average carb intake has been <55 grams/day. My NUT was very unhappy and I was told I needed to increase to 93-120 grams daily:-\ Im going to try whole wheat Pasta and pray it goes well. I've added a slice of bread to my diet...pepperidge farms very thin wheat bread. She also wants me to add 2 servings of fruit and veggies daily...ugh! She said not to see it as a diet but lifestyle change that I can maintain for the rest of my life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
