Just a Vent, then I'll shut up

It really ticks me off when we get this surgery, do so well cause we're watching every single morsel that fits into our new tummies cause our Nut and Doc's say so, and then one day we go off our "diets" for a bit and bang we gain almost 10 - 15 lbs in less then 1 week! WTF! Kill yourself for nearly 4 years and then go off for just one week and HALLALooya@! Back to the "flippin" drawing board. . . this will never end! Ummm, yes it will one day. . . . Thank you for listen, now I'll shut up. . . .

Thanks for sharing. It is important I think for all of us to know that the battle is never over- I wish it was but it sounds like it is not. I remember gaining 10 pounds over a weekend pre-surgery. I am still paranoid about gaining all my weight back- hopefully that will stick with me for years to come. But thanks for the reminder that this can happen even with the sleeve. Seems unfair almost. Best of luck getting back on the wagon.

Hi There Thinoneday. I wish this was a magic bullet but it still is a tool. An awesome and powerful tool but still it is up to us to use it correctly. The fight is not over my friend! I wish it was but at least we are better prepared for the war!;)

Looks like we are paddling upstream for the rest of our lives. We can't quit paddling or we'll drift back. Is it worth the effort? I think so....I prefer the ongoing effort to the misery of girth and gravity.

Thank you guys! I'm just upset because going onto my 4th year, I just wanted to live like a normal person and not always just watch what I eat. . . guess not. I'm back on the wagon. I've been following the Atkins plan for nearly 1 year. It works well and when I went off and added some carbs which i wasn't supposed to yet, i guess my body retaliated and i did feel badly. Nausea, bloaty, swelling, weight gain. . etc. But I'm back on it now and won't be coming off it. Protein good, carbs bad. . . Water good, soda bad! lol. . . . thanks again, i really feel better knowing that you all understood. . . blessings and pleasant journey (it's a damn long one)

Is there any research that states a sleeved person will gain weight faster than a non sleeved person? From this story, it would seem the answer is yes. Soda might also have caused an accelerated weight gain because of stored toxins. Fat is attracted to toxins and it needs extra Water to support it. Anyways, if you know the answer to my weight gain question, please post.

For me, the cause of rapid weight gain when eat things I shouldn't is what I call "carb bloat". My body retains massive amounts of Water - the areas around my eyes get puffy, my ankles swell, etc. It's the reverse of the rapid loss of a few pounds of water weight most of us see in the first week or two of low-carbing.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
