Clear Liquids and Weather Concerns

Recommended Posts

Do I started my Clear liquids today. So far, not so bad. I picked up several different things from HyVee for variety sake and am allowing myself one can of low sodium chicken broth per day. I've been on the liquid diet for more than 2 weeks at this point and that was really tough.

I'm supposed to leave for Tijuana on Thursday and be sleeved on Friday. But the weather is supposed to turn bad and I'm worried about my flight status. I've been in touch with my coordinator who said that if my flight was delayed or canceled, I would be rescheduled for the 25th or the 4th. Ugh! I can't go thru this liquid diet stuff again! I'm mentally ready for this and if there's a delay I'm worried I will just break.

That would really really suck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Jeni, Here's hoping that your flight doesn't get delayed, but if it does, think of it as an opportunity. You're on the liquid diet now, so just stay on it. I'm sure that you've lost weight already and you'll lose even more if you stay on it longer. For sure, your liver will be in great shape for the surgery if you continue. I know it's tough to think about now, but you'll appreciate that extra weight loss once you're sleeved.

Hi Jeni,

I can't imagine the stress of a possible weather delay at this point. Hopefully, the forecast will look better a day from now..you know how those weather fronts can change direction. I am planning on seeing you at Mi Doctor this week!

True enough. I hope the weather does change. I mean I live in Kansas and you know they always say if you don't like the weather in Kansas, just wait 5 minutes...it'll change! Fingers and toes crossed. My plane isn't scheduled to leave until 11:10, so surely they will have things cleared and running then. Just another thing...but it's ok...I'm gonna get thru it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
