Normal to eat this much?

Recommended Posts

I don't understand what I asked that was confusing. I was asking if the amounts that I was eating was normal or if it was too much. I've read people being able to eat the same amount and some people only being able to eat as little as 2 tablespoons. I don't normally sit down and eat a full can of Soup. It happened once over a half or so period. My NUT' date=' not my doctor (who is a great doctor by the way and one of the top in Michigan) is the one that gives me my nutrition info. She didn't specifically say what amounts I need to be eating for which liquids. Hence, why I was confused and reached out on here to see what I should do.[/quote']

I'm sorry if that didn't read right. I find it maybe not confusing....but freaking annoying that a medical professional (nuts skirt that category often) wouldn't give you guidance both on what you can eat and how much. The how much is so important! It makes me want to smack the dorks. Volume is as important as what you eat early out because, as you now know, you really can't listen to a swollen healing stomach to determine when to stop. Even for someone who does not have an issue with how much they have eaten in the past, going down to a quarter or half cup is a huge change. It's hard to guess at the how much if you don't get guidance.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
