26th here. I'm like a dog pissing myself, the emotional roller coaster I WAS on doesn't even hold a candle to this ride as time draws near. After my EGD though, it's been mostly good vibes since that procedure was so easy.

askinnierme..did you go get your preperation stuff for surgery? I did today I got liquid vitamans d and b, 2 big packs of vanilla and chocolate Premier Protein shakes, gas x strips, carmex, dulcolax and some really comfy pjs. I still need propel and some cream Soups and sugar free popsicles. I am ready for this. I am scared of the pain the first few days, I am scared of being hungry but trapped because I cant eat because my stomache is only as big around as a bic pen. and I am going to miss bread. ALOT. I may have to have a mock funeral for it...sign a divorce decree or some other relationship severing act..lol...lets keep in touch so we can compare symptoms and moniter are progress by hearing the others.

Good luck to everyone who has surgery this week!!!

I'm almost 4 weeks out, and although everyone is different, my recovery pain and hunger-wise has been a piece of cake! I had to stay a few extra days in hospital because my internal swelling was taking it's own sweet time to go down and I couldn't drink so I was kept in IV, and I am having issues with not being able to eat or drink enough, but apparently this is quite normal and everyone gets there at their own rate.

I had no real pain to speak of (minor aches in the first day or two), haven't taken a painkiller since leaving hospital. I have just started feeling our new version of 'hunger', which I can only describe as 'mildly peckish'; more of a vague hollow feeling than real hunger.

I do crave savoury flavours, and had one or two weak moments where I tried to run before I could walk (surely one soft, mushy, English fish&chips style fry will be ok? WRONG!!!!!) and we all have days where we think "what the hell have I done?" But just know that these days happen, know that they pass and know that the liquid / purée / soft food stages are just that - stages. The recovery is a process, and although sometimes frustrating and boring, it is generally fine and WILL PASS!

And then will come your day when you feel light, have energy, and look good on the beach!

Good luck everyone, and co granulation a on the new you!

I had mine a year ago at 39. Best thing I ever did. You won't regret it and will be blown away in a year. It's rough at first and requires changing your thinking' date=' but if you are truly motivated it will be great. Here's to healthier forties!!![/quote']

Thanks for sharing. I turn 41 the day after my surgery and I do not want to spend another year being fat!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
