Finally have a surgery date and im petrified!

Recommended Posts

I didn't think I would feel this way but I do. I'm wanting to back out! Part of me wants to keep hoping this band will magically do what it's suppose to do.

I'm also self pay and freaked put about all the money I will spend . AND I'm self employed and have a strenuous job.

Anyone else had a physical job and how long did you stay off of work. I frankly can't just enjoy not working...no work no pay bills.

Any words of encougment would help right now.

My surgery date is feb 28th!!

I think that everyone of us has gone thru the "am I making the right decision?" talk with ourselves.. including me.. and let me tell you I have not regretted it one bit.. My surgery date was dec 20th.. Im down 50lbs.. and that is fantastic.. yes things have changed for me.. the way I eat and what I eat..and im more of a label reader than I was before.. as for work.. my husband and I own a construction company. he went back after 2 weeks.. but was still having some restrictions.. I work at the hospital and the nursing home.. Im still on restrictions.. mostly lift ones.. thats about it.. it all depends on how you feel and what your doctor says.. I follow whatever he tells me.. thats the key.. to follow all instructions and you will be successful... I plan on being skinny when I go on my cruise in May.. and so does my Hubby..he looks great now.. he has like 46 more lbs to go and he will be at his goal weight.. he was sleeved dec 27th.. I still have a ways to go.. but really they give you a tool..and its up to you to follow thru.. best thing ive ever done.. like most say..my only regret.. was not doing it sooner.. best of luck in your decision..

Well i cant relate to some of the things that you said but I do know that I went through a period of being really anxious about the fact I was having the surgery and wanting to make sure that i was making the right decision. I think it is only normal for you to be concerned.

I do know that no matter what, that this has been the best decision of my life for myself. I am healthier now than I have been in a LONG time and happier too because I feel like I am finally in control.

Hope things clear up for you soon. Soon it will all be a memory! Keep us posted.

See my thread from yesterday. I lay in the preop room and had a serious commitment issue. I wanted to leave. I feared for my life. Out of a dozen surgeries this one had me very scared. But I knew I needed this band out. So I trusted my surgeon. And when I woke I was in a bunch of pain. But I was so proud of myself and happy. Grinning ear to ear knowing that I had made the right choice. As a revision WLS patient it is hard mentally and physically. I was told six years ago the band was the answer. Now what if this one isn't the answer, there is no going back. But I know his is right for me. You should be scared. But it's right.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
