I am just over 5 months post op and for the past 3 weeks my stomach has been soooo sour! I have been taking nexium twice a day and probably going to start Prilosec again. It happens all day long and nothing is helping. Sometimes it makes me seriously feel like I'm going to puke. Has anyone else had this?? I had reflux the first month or 2 but it went away.

I don't have an answer, but I'm going throuugh the same thing. I'm 6 weeks out and I can feel bubbling up in my throat - I take nexium once a day. I'm not sure what else to do

I broke down and called my doctors office because it was so bad! He told my the 10 mg of Pepcid twice a day wouldn't even affect his cat haha. He told me 80mg Prilosec for the next 3 days then 40mg daily. If its not better in a week I probably will need an upper gi to see if letting it go this long caused damage :/. Hopefully not bc I really don't want to be scoped again. And my family is over an hour away and I can't ask them to take me to and from so I have to rely on coworkers to take me and a friend to pick me up which sucks!! So hopefully the Prilosec stops it!!

AVOID PRILOSEC IF YOU CAN!!! I had the same problem...stopped taking prilosec, and then had the worst heartburn in my life! Here's what they dont tell you...prilosec, and other proton pump inhibitors like it, cause really bad rebound effect when you stop taking it. The severity differs for everyone. This could take several weeks to go away completely. It took me about 6 weeks of taking 150 mg of zantac twice a day to get past it. Now, I'm down to 75 mg a day, if I need it. Zantac, btw, will not cause rebound, and is milder. Basically, stick to anything that is not considered a PPI, or proton pump inhibitor. Prilosec, will for sure relieve your symptoms, but you'll be taking it for the rest of your life! And don't the drug companies love you for it!

Did any of you have a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time as your surgery? My doctor will be doing that when I get mine and I'm really hoping it will help with heartburn.

Rdt210

I had a hiatal hernia repair. The heartburn is much better now than before surgery, but only after I got over the rebound effect of the prilosec.

No repair, it wasn't necessary.

It's worse now than before surgery on 12/28/12

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
