Movie Theater Snacks

Recommended Posts

My husband wants to go see a movie this weekend ~ NO large Coke with extra ice and large buttered popcorn for me! Any suggestions on healthy Snacks I could bring with me? I'm not quite 4 weeks post-op and still on soft foods. Thanks in advance : )

I carry a pretty large purse, so I air pop my own popcorn and take it in with me. I also take my water bottle too. Other things you could do is veggies and ranch greek yogurt dip, turkey roll ups (turkey slices and cheese rolled), string cheese, pretzels (these are a slippery slope for me...but others do well with them).

EDIT: Oh crap, I totally missed that you were on soft foods. Sorry!! Most of my list doesn't apply.

I would honestly probably take a Protein Shake with me and call it a day.

Thanks ~ appreciate the response. I will certainly keep the other suggestions in mind for future trips ~ especially the air popped popcorn. Crazy ~ but I never thought of that! That will certainly make life eaier when my husband is gobbling up his extra large bucket : ) Protein Shake it is this weekend

I can never find anything remotely healthy at the move theatre. It is not fair! I usually just take my Water bottle or a shake if it overlaps my meal time.

When I go to the movies, I bring Jerky to chew on. For soft food, I'd maybe do cheese (laughing cow wedges) or something similar.

Take some Ostrich jerky. :)

Not sure how soft your soft food should be, but I enjoyed cheese and lunchmeat, which I brought in my purse. And a Decaf soy latte if they had coffee drinks.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! Ended up running into Target right before the movie and found a single serving size of Hummus with pretzels. Thought I would be really uncomfortable being so close to a large bucket of buttered popcorn but it worked out just fine. My little snack was just enough (did not eat even half of the pretzels). Went to see Side Effects ~ movie was kind of slow but the end did have a few unexpected turns! Thanks again everyone ~ I will certainly keep all the suggestions in mind for my next movie night : )

I may get fussed at for this, but if it isn't a designated meal or snack, why chew mindlessly on anything?

I can't speak for others, but I usually am having a meal or snack every few hours so that I can get my Protein in by the end of the day. When I was still just a few weeks out I know I took my meal shake to the movies with me :D

I think if you plan for it in your daily intake, there's no reason not to enjoy something at the movies.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
