:update: :spit: I may have to reschedule my surgery!!! I am very sad. My loan may not fund in time. I will know for sure Friday afternoon. I contacted the Dr. office. I needed to be honest and tell them it is a 50/50 chance. And my husband already took the week off vacation!

I dont know how to feel and just feel like EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked them if they have a cancelation, maybe do my surgery during the week instead of Monday? If not, I guess I have to battle the holidays and do the surgery in January!!!!

I don't have any other avenues for money. The loan is a for sure thing. We already signed loan docs. Just the cutoffs gettng in the way.

I can always pray for a miracle. 50/50 doesn't mean no, right?

But, he said don't hold my breath.

I want to EAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But what if the money comes in and I screw up my pre op diet?

I am trying to figure out the "liquid diet." As long as I maintain the same levels of Protein, carbs, and fat (and nutrients) Why cant I eat something solid... like tuna... or ANYHTHING?

I would love to chew something right now. anything... I am on day 6 of the liquid diet, and I dont think I was getting enough protien. I stopped losing the past two days. Ironically enough... i dont think I was eating enough.

I am supposed to be eating 5 - 6 Medifast meals a day. But that stuff tastes horrible. Its like drinking rehydrated vomit. yeah... gross.

I have protien shakes (matrix) but they arent medifast so I was trying not to eat any of them. I have been eating my own chicken broths because I truly cant take eating that medifast nasty crap 5 times a day... ugghhhhh

It is fotified with potassium and some other Vitamins and minerals... but if I take a Multivitamin and use Protein powder... then I dont see why I need to eat the MediCrap.

Does the digestion differ if you eat purly liquids -vs- semi solids? Even if they have the same nutritional content?

Ohhhh December 22nd where are you?? :)

Hey December bandsters--it's done. I'm officially banded. I'm doing pretty well so far. I haven't had the gas paid into my shoulder--yet---maybe I won't. Well, I'm a little groggy this morning so I'll be back on later. Just wanted to let you know everything went fine. Take care.

Hello December bandsters - For those who have been banded, I have a sensitive question...anyone else having issues with "regularity". When should be expect to become more regular when we are on a full liquid diet? I am 1 week post-op this week and down 13 lbs, but have had no regularity and am concerned about that. Thanks - this is a very personal and sensitive topic.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I'm so glad everything went ok! Keep us updated. It is always nice to hear everyone coming back with positive experiences. Have you had very much pain? Are you able to be up moving around much?

My Doc told me I could actually drink the Carnation Instant Breakfast-Sugar Free in the blue box. They are actually not bad. I have lost 6lbs in 6 days with this. I was told that I could have 3 of the shakes per day and eat a regular dinner. I guess every doctor is different but you may want to check with yours and see if you can use the Carnation brand seeing you don't like the taste from the other ones. Good luck.

About an hour after I posted yesterday, I became very sick. I had a horrible headache, a lot of nausea, dizzy, and kept falling asleep. I called my doc and he said to go the ER. He wanted to do some blood work and was worried that I was dehyrated. Well, after being in the ER four hours, my blood was drawn, cat scan, and they determined that I have vertigo. They prescribed some meds. I'm going to see the ears, nose, and throat doc next week.

Today, I get to move on to cloudy liquids/mushies. Quite honestly, I'm scared. But, I will take my time.

I hope everybody has a fantastic Wednesday.

Thats the problem... I have a good Protein shake that I would LOVE to be drinking right now. It is low calorie, low carb, low fat... with extra goodies my body needs. (Oh yeah, watch Carnation (CIB) it has ALOT of sugar from what I've read on this site)...

I'd love to drink the Matrix shake, BUT I am not supposed to be having anything but the Medifast... I know of 20 other things with the same nutrional content, but I am scared that this Medicrap stuff is some kind of "magic food" and if I dont eat it... Then my liver will grow to the size of a small child... haha

yeah, yeah... i know... it won't. BUT i just want something that tastes good.

and I think I am extra whiney today... :cry

Oh my goodness girl!! You were pushing it a little hard. Get your banded butt in bed and rest. Make sure you keep eating and drinking because I know it is going to be hard when you feel like crap... but we don't want anything to happen to you. :-) Let us know how your doing.

I will be thinking about you.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
