I was sleeved a week ago, I was nauseous and throwing up hurt like I was breaking a rib. My nurse gave me stronger nausea medicine... Has that been tried? Also, my nausea started getting better each day... The nausea meds made me nauseous and so did Water. When I got home I made sure to take my meds with a Protein shake... I had regrets everyday, and now I'm starting not to

have regrets..

I was sleeved 8 days ago. I was in hospital 5 days I had to have blood and could not keep fluids down. I still feel very full all the time and have a lot of gas still. I have been bruised very Badly. I can't hold down alot at all my doctor has put me in liquid for 4 weeks just to try and settle things. I did feel like I regretted it but I weighed myself today and I have lost 13 lb after 8 days. I think the pain killers make you worse I used them for the first 2 days and then tried not to use them and I didn't feel as nauseous.

The pain meds made me have a lot of nausea. Once I stopped taking them I felt way better. It could be just that. Ask for a motion sickness patch to put behind your ear. That helped me too.

I was the same, I ended up sitting very still, put some really good earplugs in and an eye mask to shut out as much sound and light As possible. After about 6 days of that I was able to only have them on in the am and I could slowly get beyond them. I didn't have the tv on for at least a week ll the noise and movement made me nauseous and dizzy and I'd end up throwing up.

So hopefully something like this will help you. Just know it will pass. I had to learn not to take all my Meds at once. Or even that would make me vomit. You will get there.

Try letting the ice cube melt in your mouth rather than chew it. OH I almost forgot, I couldn't eat or use the ice from my own freezer, I could swear I could smell garlic or something on it (I'm a big fan of cooking large meals and freezing the rest for a rainy day) so that being said I sent my husband to the store for a bag of fresh ice.

Just keep yourself still alternate sitting up and laying down, take LOTS of deep deep breaths, and know it will get better.

I hope things start looking up soon for you! =)

You may want to ask you Dr. for some promethazine or ondansetron for the nausea and vomiting. It will pass, but it is annoying.

Determined...if the vomiting does not abate, do not hesitate to insist your surgeons office do a leak test. If you cannot keep fluids down, you may need to go to urgent care or ER for IV fluids so you don't suffer dehydration. Especially in the beginning, if you are having complications, you may need medical attention. I am sorry you are feeling so badly. You simply have to be your own best advocate for your care.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
