No support from Gynecologist!

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry you got that response frome her... As others have said' date=' not everyone will agree and many are not informed... My OBGYN is actually the reason I had my surgery, we had a long talk about my weight and his concerns about my fertility since I was recently married and he referred me to my surgeon... Good luck!! I hope you Have lots of success and give her a real example of wls... As they say, success is the best "revenge" ;)[/quote']

This is the reason why I dont understand that I didnt have her support. We discuss the fact that I have fertility issues and my weight plays a big role. Thats one of the reasons im doing this...but success is the best teacher.

I have a good friend that is an obgyn and she was against me having the surgery. She said that I could lose weight with diet and exercise and that I shouldn't have a serious invasive surgery if I could achieve the same result without it. I listened to her and respect her medical advise, but I got the surgery anyway. She has been very supportive since. Do what you want. She doesn't have to live in your body. You do.

I have two dear friends who are MD"s. ONe is my OBGYN and she supported me in this decision. She is a tiny little thing BTW but once weighed over 300lbs. Not everyone who is tiny does not know your struggle :)

My other dear friend was against the surgery for me. I had no comorbidities and he felt I should do the band. I wish I'd have listened to him frankly.

As to the "easy way" honestly....this is the easy way. Why sugar coat that. Even I, who went through hell with complications have to say this is far easier than anything else because I don't have any options other than to eat small amounts. I also can't eat sugar or high carbs because they make me sick. That does make it easy. Sure ANY weight loss journey is hard, but this is by far the easiest IMO that I've dealt with. For most the surgery isn't what it is for me, so for those folks...heck ya it's rather easy in comparison to other options. No fighting yourself :) That is easy.

She is just another person with her opinion. That's all it is an opinion. Whatever title she holds gives no credit to her opinion on your life.

It's your life. Claim it and start living :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
