I'm 26' date=' 5'8" and I'm currently 277. My norm used to be 185, and at that weight, I was curvy, fabulous and loving it. Unfortunately over the past 2 years I've gained a lot of weight. I'm hoping after my surgery to be around 160-170. But all I really care about is being toned and healthy!![/quote']

When is ur surgery? You and I have similar statistics.

I'm 5'6" and was 315 at my consult. My dr told me 170 would be a reasonable goal.

Hi, 180 might be an idea weight since you are tall. Just remember you can always adjust your weight goals as you start to lose the weight. Good luck!

I think you have to constantly reevaluate your target weight as you lose weight.

I am 5'7.5", and I started at 255 pounds. My doctor said 140 would be a good goal, which is on the low side of the normal BMI for my height.

Your weight shows differently depending on whether you are muscular or fatty. If your body is more muscular, you are smaller even though you might weigh more.

I've since readjusted my personal goal to 155, but I am questioning even that. I am currently at 173-ish, and I am starting to see more loose skin in my belly area. I don't want to have too much, and so I am targeting that area with workouts. I am hoping it will improve, but if it gets worse, I don't want to keep losing even more.

So, all of that, is a long explanation to say that I am constantly reevaluating my goal weight based on what my body looks like as well as my BMI, which currently is 26.

I am 40 years old hypothyroid and 5'5". I'm currently 299 pounds and 49 BMI, At my heaviest I was 360 pounds and a 60 BMI.. I've been obese since around three years old. My goal is to get down to 150 pounds and allow myself to slowly gain up to as high as 170 if necessary in order to stabilize at a new weight somewhere between 150 and 170. It is quite natural to gain weight after a significant loss even when eating properly and exercise so that's why I'm trying to get down to 150.. originally I had set my goal at 170 but I figured it might be smarter to get down to 150 to give myself some wiggle room. 170 would still be a very healthy weight even though it's in the "overweight" category of the BMI charts.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
