How likely is it to gain weight after?

Recommended Posts

No you are the OP

OTR is a moderator of this site.

There was no "point" to his sarcasm about her Dr.

Also her Dr has been a Bariatric Surgeon for 10+ years and I find it very doubtful that OTR knows more than her doctor. That's preposterous.

This site has enough bull crap arguing on it... It doesn't need a moderator being a sarcastic ass to someone because they value their doctors advice.

I sure hope you all value your Drs as great at their jobs.

If you don't then by all means follow OTRs advice and never ever suggest you would do any different from said advice.

I really don't need to defend my Dr. with you. But really' date=' as you are so experienced, I feel SO much better with your recommendation that I follow my Dr. instead of you!

You know, for a moderator who is supposed to be a supportive person, you really are an ass![/quote']

I don't recall saying that your Dr. gave any bad advice. What I was pointing out is the over exaggeration of the logic behind the advice.

I don't think you will find anywhere on this forum where I advocate the use of carbonated beverages. Quite the contrary, I have stated many times that I have tried soda since being sleeved & have found that I just don't like it anymore, the carbonation had no real ill affect on me except I burped a lot.

If you search my history, you'll find that I am pretty strict regarding what I put into my body, and the advice I give tends to be even more strict. Don't get me wrong, I've had my slips, along with a few intentional off plan experiments. And I don't beat people up for making unhealthy decisions from time to time. But, I do spend a lot of time researching answers to questions in hopes that I don't give any bad advice.

Also, I'm a bit of a numbers geek, so when you post things like 12oz is equivalent to 48oz, or 8000 sleeves performed (when the sleeve has only been approved in the US for 6-7years) then, lights & sirens go off in my head.

I leave for a while and all hell breaks out! Come on really! the girl is a new member.. Is this what we want to show her. Her doctor may have preformed that many gastric surgeries. And his advice about the soda is good.

Leave it alone.

I feel like every post these days requires a follow-up post to defend the original post from someone. I'm afraid to post anything for fear that SOMEONE on either side is going to respond and I'll end up in some protracted defense.

"Anything you say can and will be used against you in a future response."

This is getting rediculous.

know the stomach can stretch

Any advice is appreciated. This site is awesome, & has answered a lot of my questions/fears.

ok, ok guys - least get past this ok????continueing like we're just starting to talk..

so how are you all doing today :)

jason - congrats on being sleeved in 3 weeks :)

being excited, scared, nervous, anxious, - all that good stuff - completely normal - been there, done that

per most/all dr.s / nuts - the sleeve can not and will not stretch

this is a common fear that many sleevers have - but no - your tummy shouldn't stretch

85% of your tummy is gone forever!!! Yah!!!!

you say you are not a grazer???thats great

people will gain weignt if they eat their meal, extra extra high calories, then wait til tummy isn't full anymore, and will eat more - doing this during the day and or night

just like pre WLS - take in too many calories - YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT!!!!

concentrate on getting ready for surgery, deal with your proper eating and drinking post WLS and continue with all the good things that will happen to you on this long wonderful journey through sleeveland

preparing for a new healthier happier life :)

main reason IMO to "ever" think about regaining - is to remind yourself not to overdue and go back to old habits

good luck

speedy recovery

btw

"This site is awesome & has answered alot of my questions/fears"

you were totally right when you said the above

we're all here for each other, we do have the right to state our opinions

but.............

since we're "staring" at each other through a computer, statements sometimes can be misunderstood -when no bad feelings or thoughts were intended

give us another chance - we're all good eggs (some more cracked than others  )

we don't bite (usually ;) )

take care

My surgeon thinks that there are more problems with surgery forums than help, especially when 90% of the "information" exchanged is not accurate. Smart guy because the more I read here the more I understand he's right.

The biggest problem with Internet forums is separating information from personalities. There is this attitude that anonymity allows reckless behavior.

There is value here, but try to remove personality and ego to find it. Local support groups would be the best place. If that is not available, find someone here you believe works a good program and private message them.

I agree. There is more to the story. But my thought is there might have been a true 5-6lb gain. The rest is likely retained Water & possibly a wardrobe difference. But then again I'm just speculating. Heck, it might have been 2 different scales with one out of calibration.

You absolutely right. There was a lot to that story, thats just my impression based on the information provided. I should have stated that in the first place.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
