Dr Gandsas will be doing my surgery as well. Glad to hear yours went well. It's a long, sometimes tough process but I keep reminding myself of the prize ! I can't wait to feel what thin feels like !!

How are you feeling? My sister is doing alright' date=' she has had her moments, but overall she is trying to push thru the pain.[/quote']

I am exactly one week out today and I can't say that I am completely pain free but it is very bearable without pain medicine! I struggle a little bit getting in enough Protein and Water every day but working on it!! I am battling a cold as well that started just a few days after surgery :(. But despite all that...I feel great! I am down 8 pounds since the day of surgery and that is not counting the 6 pounds I gained in the hospital and subsequently lost when I got home otherwise I could say I lost 14 pounds according to my scale this week ! yippee!!!!!

I know just how you feel. I have six months of requirements, also. Hopefully I will get sleeved in June or July. In December it felt like forever, but just two months of doctor visits left until I can turn all the paperwork in. Very excited to get things rolling!

I'm going through Kaiser. There are lots of things i must do before my surgeon puts me on the schedule to have sleeve done.

1. Attend orientation

2. Meet with surgeon to go over history and to get surgeon approval into the program.

3. Meet with nutritionist to go over the meal plans and how much you have to lose PRIOR to surgery.

4. Have all the tests done.

5. Quit smoking for 3 months

6. Join and attend support group/meetings.

7. When you have reached the surgery goal weight by 5 lbs, you have to meet with pysch dr.

8. Have someone at kaiser verify and record your weight

9. Put name on the waiting list for surgery.

It's going to be a very long process. My surgery won't be until July or August (if I'm lucky).

Did I miss anything??

Hello, my insurance was the same way. I had six months of insurance requirements prior to getting approval. The six months seemed to take forever but I did eventually get approval in 1 week after all the insurance stuff was completed. Hang in there!

Tannak,

I was sleeved on 3/21 and am out 3 weeks tomorrow. I am only down 11lbs from week one and have been stalled for two weeks. I have been following the diet as suggested although most things make me nauseated. How has your weigh loss been progressing?

I am in my third week and have lost a total of 14 pounds! My weight loss has really slowed. I have only lost 2 pounds in the last 7 days! I am probably hitting that dreaded 3rd week stall. I hope it won't last long.

Hi everyone

This waiting is killing me!

3.5 weeks to surgery and everything is done. Preop stuff all done.

Not looking forward to the 2 week starvation/liver shrink diet. Trying to prepare by having 1 shake/3meals a day now.

Surgery is May 8th, Mother's Day May 12th, daughters school awards ceremony May 13th, sons confirmation May 19th. Gonna be a crazy crazy week after surgery. I'm a little nervous about feeling ok for these events. Don't really care about Mother's Day, but kid stuff very important plus will have out of town guests.

Haven't told anyone about surgery so will have to fake it (not sure how ill handle meals) during the 10 days after surgery.

Has anyone experienced negative feedback regarding surgery?

I'm afraid my family will judge and be negative. Won't tell them until after surgery...or maybe never. Have been telling them I'm in a weight loss program at the hospital..which is the truth.

Comments? Advice?

I was afraid to tell my family and I was shocked when I gkt hugs and total support! It made this journey so much easier. I am sorry for those who have friends and family who do not " get it" and do not show support. It just may be scary for them to of you having surgery period. (Which I get)

You are doing this for yourself and if you have comorbs this is totally the healthy choice! Keep your chin up and just do it :) it is soooo worth it!

I was sleeved at gbmc in MD on 3/19/13. I have hit the dreaded 3rd week stall and I haven't moved an oz in 12 days. I am 20.5 lbs down between pre and post op so far... it seems slow but its faster then anything I've ever done on my own.

Again...IT IS SOOOOOO WORTH IT!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
