My husnad didn't want me to do the surgery, but only because of risks. I have a bad history of complications so it was natural for this reaction. Ha also doesn't say much and I think it's because a spouse is in the " damned if I do and damned if I don't" situation. They want to encourage you, but does that mean they don't like the way you are or think you need to lose weigh in their eyes, etc? Sensitive area there!

Just recently, I told my husband Ive lost 25 lbs now and I could see the look of entrapment on his face... lol, I bailed him out and changed the subject.

My husband didn't really want me to have the surgery but I think it's more because of his own in securities. Everyone at his work that spouses have had it they have gotten a divorce. The night and morning before surgery he was a complete jerk! I guess he's coming around though and he actually went on a diet too of course he is losing so fast and is already down a pants size!

My husband has always loved me big or small. I had a woman ask me once " what does your husband say about your weight gain" I told her "he loves me the same" she said "oh what a good man he is to love you after gaining weight" what??? Like he's a saint for sticking around??

Lol.. But he is a great man for many reasons

.

He wasn't really thrilled when I told him about the sleeve. But I asked him please come to a consultation with the doctor with me. At the doctors I let him see how much I weighed and laid everything out on the table for him to see. I mean I was big enough to qualify! I think he really didn't want to believe I was that big but I was.

He is now my biggest supporter and likes seeing me happy!

My hubby actually helped me make my decision. I had been on high blood pressure, and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He said baby I want you here a little longer, so I think you should do it. Now everytime he see's me he gets excited. I was blessed with a great husband no complaints here!

My husband didn't say much. Just that he loves me no matter what. Later after my major weight loss and no more diabetes, he started talking about how this vsg would help my niece who has issues with her diabetes, bp, and eyes. Wanted me to talk with her..... Now that saids it all..... :)

My hubby was not thrilled with the idea initially bc of lack of info that he had on it. He knew I wanted to do this for myself to get healthy bc of many failed attempts in the past. I took him to a free wls seminar with one of the drs I was considering and with his research he changed his mind. He has always said he loves me no matter what. We have been together for 15 yrs and when we first met I was much smaller then gained a lot of weight so he has seen me at all different sizes. I think he was more ok with it bc he saw how I wanted and needed it.

My partner paid for the surgery himself!!! This was after I came up with the suggestion of getting WLS.... very much for it, he wanted the sexy girl back that he met 4 years ago!! We plan to get married next year and I'm gonna look damn good walking down that aisle!!

My husband is the one who brought up the idea of WLS, he has watched me go thru so many complications from being overweight. Thank God I listened to him! 7 months out and 107 lbs down my wonderful husband is getting his sexy wife back and believe me, he's enjoying every minute of it!

This is how my husband was. He said as long as you've done your research, so it was off to Mexico we go. He has tried to eat like me and although he only needed to lose 10lbs he has, and brings no junk food in our house in order to help me. He never really complained about my fatness, but now he is so happy for me and I can tell he loves the new clothes I get, and that I don't wear Baggie ugly clothes anymore. He loves that i can do so much now, and talks about the energy I have now. He really loves the new wife he has, since I'm getting back to the women he married 29 years ago:)

My husband has been so supportive from day one of my decision. I have a 6 month diet requirement and he helps me every day. My husband and I met when I was 245 pounds 13 years ago. So I know he doesn't have a problem with a bigger woman, but at my current weight of 340 its a bit out of his scope I'm sure. He would never say, he tells me every day how beautiful I am. But just recently admitted he hates to see me in pain how Im walking. He's so amazing, I can't wait to give him a sexier woman he's never had. We are high school sweethearts and have only ever been with each other. He deserves it. Can't wait!!!

My bf has been so supportive every step of the way. He went to the info session and every dr appt since. I was sleeved 7 months ago and I am down 85#. He has adopted my way of eating and has dropped 30#. We exercise together and he was excitedly surprised when I said I wanted to start running. He is absolutely amazing and I am so lucky to have someone so supportive as he is.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
