Need advice! Today marks 2 weeks post op. I lost about 7 lbs in the 1st week but nothing at all in the 2nd week. The 7 lbs were more like 10 days worth... What am I doing wrong? I have never heard of a stall this early on! Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I was feeling the same way. Lost 8lbs the first week, .5lbs the second week and I just weighed in this morning for week 3 and the scale finally moved I've lost another 4.5lbs. Yay!! Just keep doing what you are doing, I think it is our body just adjusting. Don't get discouraged. You can do this!!

I lost 12lbs in the first 2 weeks post- op so I know you feel. I am supposed to weigh myself today but I am a little apprehensive to see the results, but will press forward. Stay the course and all will be fine.

I weigh the exact same I did at my week two check up.. I actually went at day 12 and my diet was advanced... I had surgery 2/18. I've not lost a pound in 10 days! I got so discouraged. I didn't west real well yesterday. I had half of a Krispy Kreme donut... BUT I didn't have this surgery to live on a strict diet for life. My "goal" was to get off diabetes meds...

Im 8 days post op' date=' and Im down 14lbs. I think there are some very important facts we all need to remember. First, the scales are our enemy! Most want to weigh in daily and expect losses but as many have pointed out we are losing sizes and not always weight. Either way we are getting where we want to be. Second, we didn't put the weight on overnight, and cannot expect it to come off overnight! This is a journey (marathon) not a instant fix (sprint)! Keep the faith, stick to your plan, and stay off the scales! We all will get there, but at different paces! We just have to remember why we made this choice, stick to our decision, and WORK at it!! We all knew going in this is a TOOL to assist US not a instant cure for being fat!! ;-)[/quote']

So true. Thanks Lifesaveremt for the much needed reality check.

Ok, I will quit being discouraged about stalls. I was sleeved 2/14. I had my huasband take measurements on 2/10. As of this morning I have lost 8 inches in my waist and hips. 3 in the waist and 5 in the hips. Yipeeee!!!!! I am still in the same size jean, 20, but very loose. Just not quite an 18 yet. Oh yeah 254 on 2/7, 228 this morning.

I have also fallen victim to the dreaded stall! Mine has lasted for two weeks. Was getting really down until I tried on some of my clothes....4 bags went to Goodwill!!! As frustrating as it is, I know that all I can do is keep following the postop eating guidelines, exercise, and the weight will come off. Since starting the Bariatric program, I am down 50 lbs and around 20 since my surgery on 2/19. Never in all my life have I been this successful at losing wt.

I was also sleeved on 2/20 also and am at 207 from 224 on DOS. My doc said 10 per month so I figure only 3 more to go by 4/20. Remembering that really helps me keep the "only losts" to a minimum.

First stall this week. Down exactly 40 lbs since being sleeved on 2/26. I refuse to weigh myself more than once a week. Not panicking yet. We'll see what next week brings. My clothes are fitting diffe even though the scale didn't move.

Great job. Our weight loss is running on the same schedule. I was sleeved on 2/22 and as of last Friday, I'm down a total of 39 lbs. Tomorrow is weigh-in day for me.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
