How long were you out of work?

Recommended Posts

My boss is nothing but supportive as I have been with her 9 years and am valued but I told her I willonly be off 1 week. How long was everyone's recovery and how long were you off work?

I was back at work after 5 workdays off. But if you want to count the weekend, I was off for 7 days. I had no problem going back to work. Having said that, my job is a desk job and I didn't have to do anything strenuous like lifting boxes or climbing ladders. I didn't have any problems driving or walking around the office and I didn't have to take any pain meds.

Everyone is different but I went back a day short of a week but I have a desk job. I felt good, not nearly as tired as I thought I would be. Just remember to get your fluids in! Good luck! Getting the sleeve is the best decision I have ever made! :)

I have a job that requires being able to lift 50 lbs so I was off work 8 weeks.

Thanks for posting about the desk jobs. I also have a desk job and was hoping I could only be out for a week. :D I mean, I would love to take off longer but it's hard in a smallish office.

I will be in the hospital 3 days, then will be taking off a week after. I hope that is enough time. I am a bit concerned about my energy levels.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
