Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

UPDATE So I went to the ER today where I had my surgery and I told them all my symptoms and even that I had a possible leak.. My cocky doctor swears its not a leak so by phone he tells the treating doctor this and she feels me with fluids and says I was dehydrated I said lady i am drinking a Gallon of Water every day its not possible for me to be dehydrated.. SMH as I'm leaving the heart thing starts up again so i tell the nurse she says listen to be honest you need a specialist, I said I know but something is making my heart race and its scaring me she said follow up with the doctor on Tuesday smh I might be dead by then so all I can say is I am home now and if something happens to me someone please sue the hell out of them for me.. Please and Thank you.

Go to an ER that doesn't know your Dr.

Call and get in to see your General Physician then he can evaluate you.

Please if you feel that bad go to another ER

Thank you my dear. I hope that you go in and find that nothing is wrong but reading your story concerns me as I said and did much of what you said here. Those extra days made it harder to repair my leak and while I was damn lucky that the experimental procedure worked, well I was damn lucky. Every moment is important when it comes to tissue damage. My doc also dismissed my worries too much and that lead me down a dark and dangerous path. I don't want you there! When your heart becomes involved, as it has given your statements, well you just have to get things done.

Don't forget a BARIUM SWALLOW! I make that in all caps so you get that memorized. A straight CAT scan or Xray will not definitively rule out a leak. I had lots of those during my early er visits. But the swallow test is definitive, and frankly it's an easy test for you to take. You drink some horrible bitter liquid (like biting into an orange peel and then they watch it flow. A good tech will tell you whats happening so you can watch too. You'll know right away and if you do have a leak it can be taken care of right away, verses waiting for the tissue to deteriorate further. If you don't have a leak, you still have the heart rate issue and they can do an ekg (or is it eeg...I always screw that up) and see why yours is an issue. Your doc likely couldn't do a swallow test at the office anyhoo so they'd send you in. You're just doing it sooner.

So you know I asked them for it and they denied this test to me I am mad as hell right now all i know is this is not changing and I am full of Water and iv fluids now smh they trying to kill me! I am at home and will try to rest until I can see the "specialist" on Tuesday! Smh I can only hope I am okay until then if not I will be calling 911 to come get me because driving myself is so not safe!

The Er I went to is the same place I had the surgery the Doctor is out of town for the "long Holiday" Smh hell I dont care I dont feel good and I need or his back up here to see me through this mess I wanted to loose weight not die I NEVER Had any heart issues until this surgery! MY BP was low and it was still low when I left but they blame it al on dehydration because they dont know what else to tell me if you ask me.. Guys just hope I survive the next 2 days to go back and see him when he is back from his "long Holiday Weekend trip!"

To be honest I dont know of any that have bariatric specialist on call or on site

Honey I fired my doctor after the third time he denied me the leak test. I had a leak and the next doc diagnosed it. Basically from the hospital room I looked up hospitals and demanded they take me to xyz hospital. THey denied me and I said they had to do it or I would sue if they sent me home..they sent me by ambulance to the hospital I demanded. Had I listened to them I'd be dead. That said...I was on my third attempt to get help.

On monday go to another hospital if you must, and tell your surgeon to F off if you have to. Any DECENT surgeon would want to do the test, if even to just shut you up. I'd like to see you go tomorrow but if you wait, insist on the testing. An ekg at least.

My heart goes out to you. I've been there. I know the fear and pain you're in and I just want to crawl through this computer and send you a hug

The "claw" is that thing in toy story that picks out the cool martians Silly boy!

OK well actually it's a small clip, much like a woman's hair clip, that grabs a claw full of damaged tissue on either side of a leak and then it's spring action holds it together. The hope is that with the poison fluids not flowing over that tissue, that they will heal and then grow together to seal off the leak. This is used in areas where the tissue is so damaged that (as my surgeon described it) are so badly damaged it would be like sewing through a plastic bag. You pull the thread and it just tears right through. It is typically used in late leaks (which can encompass leaks that were early like mine but discovered late, or leaks that develop late) Earlier repairs can be accomplished with staples, glue and a bit of duct tape....or so I hear

The clip holds the tissue together for a period of time, one hopes six weeks (which is what it takes to heal and then form a bond). Then as the tissue firms together it forces the claw apart and the two sides literally fall apart and are "passed" through you system (you poop them out). This all provided this girl who wears hair clips with a horrific picture of half a hair clip passing through my ummmm well parts I don't put hair clips, but the claw, in it's entirety, is smaller than a pinkie fingernail.

I still can't discuss it though without picturing the toy story III scene with "THE CLAW" and the martians But I have a small child...so perhaps this is just me

Holy hell excuse my French. That's some amazing stuff. One last question super gross. Could you tell that you passed it? Like can you see it. I heard some one mention you had it Instead of a stint? I'm only interested cause I'm always freaking about dumb stuff. This just seemed Sci fi like.

LOL you're past worry about dumb stuff But it's a good question...ummm I'm a lady so I'm not going to look Ok let's be real...every time there was "movement" within the body...I looked...now not like put a sieve in the toilet and sifted the stuff out...but I peaked I never saw or felt anything.

Ask anyone who's had a stent...they feel every freaking .1 inch of that horrible thing! And not when they "pass" it...from the moment it's inserted. I am so glad I didn't experience that hell!

It's a newer technique and I'm told that the success rate is abysmal, but that's because it's used on late leaks, from which recovery rates are rather abysmal as well. But, my docs hate the stent. They say that it's too much suffering to put a patient through and as such they use this as well as suturing and staple/glue combo's as their preference prior to a stent. Had this failed they might have gone with the stent route, but only if I would have stayed in hospital another six weeks. If not they would have removed my stomach and gone to bypass. I preferred the new treatment.

I may have to do the same I took my fiance to work this morning and again the heart racing thing starts up i tell you this is crazy! I wish people would just listen to the patient I know I never has any issues out side of heavy breathing before this surgery and that was only on stairs and walking or running fast moments so how come only after this surgery is my heart going wild from just walking?? Not to mention I am 34 lbs smaller since and if anything that's less weight on my heart and lungs so come on now!!! I am going to try phelps Hospital by phone to see if they have a bariatric specialist in their hospital and pray they do so I can get some real help.. I swear if they find one and i can sue I am because I been telling them this since 2 weeks post op i am over 6 weeks now and the issue is getting worse! SMH Only me! But I thank you all for opening my eyes because had it not been for you guys I would of never even went to the ER.. At least now its documented! Thank you.
