How many ounces can you eat at a time?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering what amounts of foods everyone is able to eat at a time. I'm at about 2 1/2 ounces for one meal, but I'm sticking to about 1 1/2 ounces for Snacks.< /span>

I'm still at 1/4c and will be a month out on the 19th. I'm not hungry though, so just stick to that. I'll try to increase it to 1/2c. at 3 months per my nuts advise.

I depends on what kind of food it is. I can easily eat an 8oz yogurt, but I can only eat 3 oz of steak.

Same here...I'm 4 weeks out today and can have a 5.3 oz of Dannon light & fit Greek yogurt, but it takes me a while to eat 2-3 oz of turkey deli meat with light ranch dressing.

I am 3 months out and can eat no more than 1/3 cup of anything!!!

I get full and miserable!

I am still eating just meat because I have no room for veggies yet.

When I eat pudding or yogurt its no more than a 1/4 cup at a time. I get full fast!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
