My 2 week post-op check up with the Doc is on Tuesday (2/12) I'm excited to see what they all have to say. I've lost what seems like 19lbs since the surgery (That can't be true!!!) I'm nervous for what my mind is going to do during the inevitable stalls though.

I was sleeved on 1/23. I had my 2 week post op appointment yesterday and was only down 7.4 :( doctor and nut said that was a great loss but I really wanted at least 10. I have lost 19 lbs total pre and post op. I have now been stalled for the last 4 days. So frustrating!! I am starting to freak out about it!!

oh my gosh! I was sleeved on 1/23 too. I had my 2 week follow up on Wednesday and I am down 17lbs total. I lost 7 lbs on my prediet, so I have only lost 10 lbs since surgery. I have also been stalled for almost a week! I am not sure exactly why i am not losing... it is very frustrating. I am still on liquids only and i am trying to get all my Protein in. I am wondering if maybe my body is in starvation mode or something?? Hopefully, next week when i start eating soft solids the weight lose will pick up. Right now i am discouraged! :( And i am REALLY craving solid food. I want to chew something!

I am right there with you guys. Today I am exactly 3 weeks out and I have to say, when I weighed this morning, I was pretty disappointed. Only a 1.6 lb loss for the week. Ugh. I have also gotten all my fluids and protein in. I am getting between 450-700 calories a day. I have been exactly the same weight as I was Monday. Here are my stats:

1/18 DOS 179

Week #1 171 (-8)

Week #2 167.4 (-3.6) 11.6 total

Week #3 165.8 (-1.6) 13.2 total

I am feeling great and increasing my walk distance each day. I have never been able to nap until now so am taking full advantage of the time off! The scale is not rewarding my efforts but i am being patient for now. I go for my two week check up next tuesday the 12th so will not worry for now. Im doing well on my clear Fluid intake and must stay that way a full three weeks. Hope everyone else is feeling much better now that we have at least a week under our belts!

Weight 200

Dos 190

Now 176

Surgery date: 1/16

I could only sip very little for a long time, couldn't eat more than 2 oz. BUT this week has been the most improved both drinking and eating.I can finally drink 64 oz, and get 60g ( 2 premier protein). I can tolerate solid/soft food as long as I use food processor or purée it. Almost pain free, so been doing the elliptical this week for 2 miles/45 mins. This is milestone for me!!! Could only last 20 minutes before, very slowly! Now i am running 2 miles! No more knee/foot/ plantar fasciitis pain!!! Md said pace activity as comfortable. Plus doing resistance bands everyday.

scale stopped moving so I'm thinking need to up my activity level. And keep drinking liquids and Protein. Inches are coming off, clothes are loose, but it would be nice to see scale move ;) reading everyone losing massive weight is sooo motivating! And I realize I need to move my ass to be a skinny bi#&! Lol ;)

Sounds just like me! Sleeved 1/21 and only lost 8 pounds so for and now I'm in a stall!! Lost 29 before surgery so I guess that's what caused the early stall??? Who knows but it needs to end soon!!!!

Sleeved 1/29/2013

Pre-Op diet weight: 193

Surgery weight: 186

Day after: 192 (damn Water weight gain)

1.5 weeks out: 181.8

I am 1.5 weeks out from Surgery and things have been smooth.

-- No major pain after surgery, other than my wrist arm swelling from the vein they blew -- still hurts

-- No major gas pain

-- No nausea

-- No close calls with throwing up

-- Able to drink fluids relatively easily, albeit slowly

-- Moved to full liquids per my Dr's plan easily

-- I am getting 60+ grams of Protein, and close to the 64 oz of Fluid (remembering to sip water and waiting the 30+ minutes after is annoying)

-- Since moving to full liquids, I am been getting 600 to 700 calories in, is that too much?

-- Finally lost the water weight gain plus, and an additional 4.2 lbs since the surgery for a total of nearly 12 lbs

-- Traveled to my client site and worked pretty much my same routine of super fulls days, i.e, 10+ hours (yes, I did crash as soon as I got back to the hotel)

Now, for the minor complaint, when will my wrist along the vein stop hurting? It hurts to stretch the arm out and to touch it.

OK, I know I will hit a stall, I am thinking moving to more solid foods might present a problem, I just know I will hit a road bump at some point and will be on here asking for help. But, until then, pre-op patients, please know that the ride can be smooth. I know so far I have been one of the lucky ones. Thank you to who ever is watching out for me, I really appreciate it.

Mary

I was sleeved on Jan 8, 2013. Went in to the hospital at 213lbs. Lost about 6lbs per week the first three weeks but have since stalled at 195lbs. It's been almost two weeks with not a loss at all.

My Nutrionist thought maybe I wasn't eating enough calories & told me to try to take in 800 calories/day (including 60 - 80g protein).

I have been trying to do that for the past 4 days or so & still no movement on the scale :(

I am on stage 4 soft foods & am worried that 18lbs is all I am going to lose :(

Anyone else hit a stall this early on lasting two weeks ?

Everyone in a stall you need to remember that your body is in starvation mode and its going to take it some time to catch up. If your in a stall you really need to make sure you're getting your Protein because this is when your body starts feeding on your muscles. If you're in a stall they can last from one day to one month. Just keep following your plan because even if you don't lose pounds you can keep losing inches.

4 weeks out today! Broke my two week stall this week and lost 6lbs. That is a total of 23lbs since surgery!

I was 4 weeks on the 5th & I too stopped losing after about two weeks. It has been almost 2 weeks since I have seen a loss :( getting worried this has stopped working. Did you change anything ? I know to expect stalls & plateaus but wasn't prepared for them to come so early

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
