I'm exactly one week out and I've lost NO weight! I've got to get this weighing obsession under control. I know I'm still swollen and bloated but....

Is anyone finding it hard to eat and drink slowly? I'm using baby spoons and I think it makes me eat faster since its such a small amount. I forget my stomach is small!!

Habits are gonna be hard to change!!

I had my surgery Dec. 18 and the weight started to come off about a week later. I think the Fluid from the IV had to go away first. Since that time, I've lost 46 pounds.

I still find myself eating too fast. I laughed when I read that you use baby spoons because I just bought a set of them yesterday! I hope they help.

Good luck to you!

Patience...patience. I'm 18 days post op.....have lost a bit though. We're all different. Stay off that scale! This is a permanent lifestyle change.....think of the weight loss (that will come I promise) as a nice side effect.....eat and drink small and slow. Put the scale in the closet for a while. I too have the same problem with eating/drinking to fast still....my new stomach lets me know quickly and painfully. There is a learning curve. My problem is i view eating as a chore now since i'm not hungry....and force it down too quick. To boot, I'm thirsty...which is a bad sign because once you feel thirsty you're already dehydrated a bit....so I want to drink too quick. Double edge sword. We'll both figure it out and adjust, early in the game now....so hang in there! Best of luck.

I started losing on day 7 (like crazy) that lasted about two weeks until stall....

Eating and drinking is hard that first bit. Now I can eat but struggle with drinking enough. Keep at it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
