How I keep from over eating!

Recommended Posts

I kept my surgery a "secret" too because I have also heard my co-workers opinions on weight loss surgery. I'm glad too because I have worked hard to get off my weight going to the gym daily and consuming less than 800 calories a day - this is my work and sweat and I really don't want the surgery to get all the credit because people have the misconception that it's the surgery doing the work.

Anyway - those first couple of months back I tried to just eat at my desk or use my lunch hour to go for a walk so that people weren't observing how little I was eating.

I will be doing the same thing when I go back too.. Dont want to have folks watching me and trying to figure me out!

Ive over eaten a couple of times...Only because I was so hungrary I wasnt paying attention and trust me I wish I could had thrown up but instead Im in pain and it hurts. I try to eat to where Im satisfied...sometimes its a whole cup of Protein or less...I think on certain days Im just more hungrier thrn other days..And I was sleeved on Nov 19th...and down 35 pounds..

It's hard to train your brain to go go from eating a full plate to only 1/4 cup. I seem to instantly from not quite satisfied to uncomfortably full, and I'm not eating fast. If you figure it out, let me know! I was sleeved on 12/5 and still struggle. There's nothing easy about life after surgery!

Wow you get hungry? I am never hungry but you are also over a month on my i was sleeved on Dec 6th And I hope I never feel hungry again! lol I love that I eat based on time not hunger. I eat every 3 hours and only 3 oz at this time 4 oz max and 9x out of ten its full force Protein based foods!

Its not the traditional hunger lime I used to get..My stomach starts hurting and it hurts until I start putting food in it..Protein makes me feel good like I have more energy...If I eat carbs I dont feel so well...

I also use the small containers & small silverware (helps me take smaller bites), helps with Portion Control & makes my mind think I'm eating more then I am...= more satisfied!

Funny they all see it as the easy way out.. If they only knew it really isn't.. This is the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life. Even child birth wasn't this bad lol I know at some point and time we will be able to eat ANYTHING we want and we will have to control that and say no or limit ourselves to it so we wont gain the weight back. Easy way out my but!

you are exactly correct! I had my surgery nearly 3 years ago and I can eat whatever I want. it's all about choices now which is a HUGE struggle (oh how i miss my tiny stomach!lol). so tell those people that say it's the easy way out to go somewhere! ;)

Yeah, that whole "easy way out" crap pisses me off. Difference is at 43, I really don't care what my co-workers think. Here's how it is. I work in the gas patch. Have for 9 years. I was 155, over the past 9 years I've gained over 100 lbs. Guaranteed they talked crap. (btw- I work in an all men industry). I hope they talk about me. I hope I'm that special that I take up time and space in their day.

Without being foul mouthed... Fack them. Be proud of your choice. Be proud of your progress, this is your life. Omg, this last 6 weeks has sooooo not been the easy way out.

If you're looking for tiny silverware - go check out Pier 1. I noticed they carry what's called appetizer forks. They're metal and little tiny things. Might be exactly what you're looking for. I think I remember seeing spoons too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
