From what I understood from my doc is no carbonated drinks. I get where you're coming from. When I get a stomach bug, the first thing I grab is ginger ale and my doc said absolutely not. I'm still a sleeve freshman at two months out, so I might be wrong. Just what I got from my doc. Hope you get to feeling better!!!

Try shaking it up to get rid of the carbonation- I'd be very afraid of what would happen if you had bubbly stuff. Hope you're better soon!

Have you tried pedialyte? The baby Fluid? It's like Gatorade but lighter on the stomach

Ginger! Get some ginger root and snip a piece off and tuck it in your cheek

I am 7 months out. I can do the occasional caffeine free soda from a fountain. I then leave it sit for a while and then drink slowly. My dietitian said this was ok. I may have a little gas if I do drink it too fast or don't leave it sit long enough. But remember no straw. Hope you feel better soon.

I occasionally drink diet soda without issues. I have to drink it slowly, but it's fine. My surgeon has no problem with it. This is one of those areas that surgeons disagree on.

Poor the sprite in a glass and then stir with a spoon until it's flat. It takes care of the carbonation but leaves you with the right taste.

I wouldn't do it personally. I know that others say its fine. I do agree with the op about the ginger though. Ginger tea would be good too.

It is something they do not agree on. I do drink soda, always diet, always have. I did however wait for several months after surgery, and took sips to wait for any reaction. And I pour it in a cup so that most of the carbonation escapes

I'd recommend diet Sierra Mist Natural if you are going to do a clear soda, but my preferred treatment for nausea is a drop or 2 of real peppermint oil on the back of your tongue. Works every time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
