I am having weird dreams where I am eating and all of a sudden it hits me that I'm not suppose to so I spit it all out. I was wondering if anyone else is having dreams like these or any different ones since their surgery?

I had those dreams right after surgery- only I didn't spit it out. I did wake up with my heart pounding, though, thanking God it was just a dream!

I just had one of those dreams (just woke up from a nap) and my surgery is a week from today. I am not sure if it's because I've been on the pre-op diet faithfully for a week and I'm subconsciously missing food or if it's pre-surgery anxiety. I didn't spit the food out in my dream and, in fact, I kept eating more. The part of my brain that was trying to wake up was horrified, but I was incredibly calm about it in my dream (although I did have a thought that I had basically undone a lot of hard work). Now that I am awake, I would classify this as a nightmare!

I had a dream like that a couple of days after surgery. I dreamt that I had eaten a huge meal and lots of soda. I woke up in a panic thinking I had really eaten all that....and hurt myself in the process. I was still on the liquid pain medicine so I was having all kinds of long, weird dreams.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
