My first RTD Protein shake

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I decided to start testing out RTD Protein shakes.. And yes, I cheated by buying one with more sugar than I thought I should have but it was still HORRIBLE! It has the consistency of pepto bismol and milk of magnesia..

OMG, I just dont know.. I will probably have to add something in them to thin it out.

BTW, it was Bolthouse Farms - Mango Protein Plus..

People rave about Bolthouse Farms smoothies but I don't like them at all! I.tried the mango and also the vanilla chai Protein One and YUCK. What I have done is take the green one and mix it with my vanilla Protein Powder and that was tasty.

My friend uses the vanilla chai one with Cereal in the morning.. I tried a spoonful and it didnt taste too bad.

I will try the green one and some vanilla Protein powder.. That sounds interesting. I also bought the chocolate one (it was BOGO at Krogers) and haven't tried it yet.

I hate to be wasteful so I will mix it with a few things to see if I can salvage the rest of the bottle.

My favorite RTD is GNC's Total Lean Meal Replacement. It's got 25g of Protein and only 6 carbs (2g sugar). I'm not a Breakfast person, so I always drink my breakfast. I literally have an entire cabinet full of protein powders and drinks that I couldn't stomach after surgery. So much wasted money :(

Yes, thats why I am sticking to RTD for now. I didn't want to buy something that will be useless after the surgery. I don't think I can lose with vanilla Protein powder though.

I've seen countless recipes with it so I may just buy a smaller tub.

Boy, I wish I could go shopping in your cabinet!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
