That's so exciting :) My doctor let me pick my surgery date, but he only works on Monday. I was so lucky because my parents didn't want me to miss to much school, and I only have to miss 2 days because of spring break.

Yes. I think about it a lot and sometimes my anxiety gets the best of me. But I'm getting more excited! Are you nervous?

I'm nervous about the anesthesia, I've had general anesthesia before but never for over an hour. And I'm worried about the pain after, and if I can ever eat normally. I'm such control freak it's weird that I'm letting a surgeon remove 80% of my stomach. What are you worried about?

i've had surgery before that was the same amount of time that this should be so i'm not as worried about that. but i get what you mean about the pain. i hate it and i know that it is going to be bad. but i mean what are we going to do about it, we are starting new lives. i'm a control freak too so don't worry!!! and i was between getting the band and the sleeve for a long time. the reason i decided on the sleeve was because of college and not wanting to have the lap band for the rest of my life. but the 80 percent of my stomach being removed is scary. i'm worried about that. i'm also worried about the liquid diet and not eating real food for a month.

I'm not worried about the diet too much because I don't eat to much now, I have ADHD so I take concerts it takes most of my hunger. But after the surgery I'm extremely scared of the loose skin and hair loss.

Be careful with concerta after surgery! Definitely talk to your surgeon about it and say it already reduces your appetite! 4 weeks post-op I took mine and it hit me SO much harder and I couldn't eat all day or Breakfast the next day! I just couldn't get anything down! It was even hard to drink water! So make sure you have an open dialogue with your doctor about concerta because you need your nutrition!

Best of luck with your sleeves ladies! I was sleeved on dec 18 2012 and I'd never go back! It's been amazing!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
