Oh my dear, the VST support group at Penrose is full of people who have not had surgery and have had surgery. There are some very big boned people there. No one is going to comment at all, because everyone is on the same path. :-) The main gal who runs it, use to be over 500lbs. She had the VSG about ten years ago, and helps a lot. I will look up the info and post it in a while. It's not just sitting around talking. There is crafts, and meal planning, tip exchanges, etc.

How are you doing? On this thread, you are one of the newest people to be sleeved to date and I know the first month is usually the hardest and then it slowly gets better (re: eating)...

How is your pre-surgery weight loss going? Have you weaned yourself off of caffeine and things that have bubbles? I don't feel like I did enough before surgery...except that I got off of caffeine and bubbles.

Dr. Metz was supposed to be my surgeon, but the hospital let him go literally three weeks before my surgery. I could not imagine waiting to see what would happen with Dr. Metz, so I allowed Dr. Long to do my surgery, but it was a very upsetting thing.

I assume that you still do your annual check ups with Dr. Metz, so I was wondering how he is doing in his new practice?

I haven't had caffeine or soda in about 5 months. I am 10 pounds down and my only thing left is my psych eval and I'm having a heck of a time finding someone to see me as they are all not accepting new patients or no longer practicing. I finally found one guy who will see me in September but if like to get it over with sooner if possible. Been working out about 30 mins a day 5-6 days a week and can definitely see some toning already and plan to up the exercise as I go.

I was originally going to go to Penrose and started the process there but changed jobs and my new insurance required me to go to Denver.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
