Any Colorado sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I'm in CO! Centennial. Had my surgery Oct. 2012 with Dr. Snyder.

Workitoutwoman...perhaps we will see each other at support group? I haven't been going the last 4 months because of a class I'm taking that conflicts with the sleeve group time, but I will be there in May! I'm normally a support-group junkie so the last 4 months have been HARD on me! lol

I always get a kick out of CO being the leanest state. On one hand I get it but on the other I see obesity eeeeeverywhere!

Hey I'm super new to this. I'm in Arvada and will be sleeved in Mexico, so no aftercare for me. Do any of you know if there are groups that are open to patients that weren't sleeved at that hospital or by that doctor? I'm not interested in going it alone. As it is, I feel like a looser for not being able to fix this myself (I gotta get over it, cuz it's just too old of an issue to hang onto). Anyway, I guess I'm not alone and am amazed at the number of sleevers out there. Love Colorado and that we are surrounded by active people, and I want my knees not to hurt so I can get back into some of the activities I used to enjoy.

Wow yay finally Colorado sleevers!!! I have to ask, does anyone eat green chili? Hatch or Pueblo? My favorite Breakfast is steamed red potatos, slow cooker Beans, home made tortillas, and green chilli gravy style. Has anyone been able to get the chilli to agree with their sleeves?

I am almost 6 months out and I can eat a little spice, but it doesn't feel the same as pre-sleeve. In other words, I feel the acidity and heat more than prior to surgery. It does get better though. Couldn't eat any kind of spice the first 3-4 months.

re: location - I am in Parker and I have connected with another person in Parker. She had her surgery in FL and we have gone to a support group meeting at Sky Ridge in Lone Tree (right off of I25).

Sldelux06, had green chili chicken enchiladas tonight! Skipped over the tortilla. Lived in "The Springs" for years, now only get back to see family. Loved a trip to Taos New Mexico in the fall. Enjoy Colorado for me!

Hey. I love green chili. Haven't had any issues with it yet. One of my favorite foods to eat is at Einstein bros Bagels. It's the egg white, turkey sausage, pepper jack cheese and green chili bagel. I just take off the bagel and my husband eats that. Ha. But it's so good and a mild way to see if it agrees with you. Best of luck!

I'm a wimp when it come to spicy. (Sorry can't help it...I was BORN in Minnesota, where ketchup IS spicy :P ) That being said, I don't have a problem post-op wise with spice but I'm 2.5 years out. My NUT says if anything bothers you (probably in the first 6-9 months) give it a rest and try it again in a few months and you will likely have a different experience.

Strongnsexy---you are welcome at Dr. Snyder's support group. I will PM you the details!

Nice! I cannot live without green chili and I wanted to make it my last meal, as if I was on death row haha!. I make green chili chicken enchiladas with cheese, Beans and homemade corn tortillas. I hope I can cook like that again. I make my chili with 96% ground beef like a gravy. Secret ingredient. When we move back east I'm going to have to bring bushles and bushles of it with me. Taos is beautiful, though New Mex is not my favorite place to be.

I love spicy foods. I can give most of them up, but a few I just can't. I wonder how balsamic vinigar goes down and garlic and black pepper?

I think my ability to handle different kinds of foods gets better incrementally. Honestly the only thing I have gotten sick on is hamburger and it's partly because I ate the meat too fast (because I am a mom of little ones and it is a bad habit when taking care of other people)....I love basalmic vinegar. I ate banana peppers on a sandwich the other day. I am not completely spice-free...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
