Mad at myself

Recommended Posts

I just got back from a 7 day cruise. I am upset with myself that I did not exercise at all. I did take the stairs quite a bit & one of the excursions was somewhat physical with climbing stairs & walking alot. I ate some stuff I shouldn't have & I gained 1.5 lbs. That is the gain after taking a Water pill as I didn't drink 64 oz water per day. I didn't eat THAT much bad stuff but apparently I gain weight very easily. My goal was to lose 1 lb. I had my surgery Sept. 12th. I guess I wasn't totally prepared to deal with the temptations onboard the cruise. I feel like a failure.

I'm pretty sure only gaining 1.5 lbs while being on a week long cruise is something only a VERY few people can say (I know I gained WAAAY more). So you enjoyed your vacation, good for you. Now that you are back home, you can start back on your routine. Don't beat yourself up, just move on and get back on track.

Sometimes you have to just enjoy your life especially while you are on vacation. I think that being able to have a fun vacation without putting all the work into your usual diet and exercise routine and only gaining 1.5 lbs is an amazing success. So don't beat yourself up, just get back to your usual routine and that 1.5 should come right back off. I always remember when I go on vacation that part of taking vacation is accepting that when you get back you will need to catch up on everything you normally do that didn't get done while you were on vacation. Good luck.

I know from my recent experience this Xmas that I must keep focused and work on making healthy food choices. It's a learning curve for me. Now don't beat yourself up, just get back on track and work on making healthy choices habitual......You can do this and so can I. :)

1.5 pounds is not too shabby for a weeklong vacation. Just think of how much u would've gained had u not been sleeved. I have found that little weight gains come off quickly once I focus on eating right, getting my Water, and working out. It'll come off don't worry. Please don't let a 1.5 gain cloud over the greatness of a cruise.

It takes 3500 calories to gain/lose a pound. Do you think you overate that much?

Thank you for your kind words. I feel better about it now. I was really angry with myself but you are right, it should come off fairly easily. I have been back on track since I got home Sunday. CBT-there is no way I ate 3500 calories or more in a day. I know that for a fact as I can only eat about a cup of food. The worse thing I ate was 1/2 of a small piece of tirimisu at dinner one night. I was very proud of myself as far as my food choices went & really thought with taking the stairs instead of the elevator & the physical aspect of the ziplining excursion, that I would be ok. I'm not going to worry about it anymore. What is done is done. I just wish the mandatory overtime at work would stop as it is interfering with my exercising. Looking forward to hopefully making goald weight by the end of 2013!!! Good luck & Happy New Year to you all!

Agree don't beat yourself up. Just get back to your routine. I fell off the wagon. when I got my appetite back 6 months after Dec 2011 VSG surgery. So the holiday office food of homemade Cookies cakes and quiche was a test..that I failed. I just made sure that I got back to the gym soon after the dust cleared. I don't use personal trainers so I only beat myself up when I slip. But remember you did recognize that you wanted to get back to your routine without someone else pointing it out.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
