Not losing weight

Recommended Posts

My doctor calculated my resting metabolic rate a few days b4 my surgery' date=' u sit there relaxed and breathe into a tube and a machine records something that tells me how many many calories I burn a day. For better details ck it out on the Internet. About 5 yrs ago I paid to have this done at our local hospital also so it has been around for a while. One more thing, in one year my doc will redo this test to see how my body is burning calories, the more muscle I have the better it will be. Hope this helps[/quote']

Thanks.

I would try to reduce your carbs also. I found that has helped me. I had my surgery a few days before you and lost 14 lbs the first week and then only 2-3 lbs a week until week 4 and now I am down 6 lbs. I have also started doing more that walking now. I am finding when I don't loose many lbs that I am losing inches. I also found lowering my carbs has helped me. Good luck!!

I lost 16 my first month' date=' and then about 10 every month after that until about 7 months out (check my signature - I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to tracking all the info, lol). You are doing absolutely FINE :) It *will* come off. It *has* too. :)[/quote']

Did "Aunt Flo" visit yet? I didn't start losing post op until after my period.

Two days after my surgery. I'm down 29 pounds but feel bloated because I'm about to start again. I think I might reach my 30 pound goal!!!! I stay around 500 calories per day and I'm about to start back to my gym. My kids keep me busy anyway lol. My BMI was 38ish before surgery

People, we should all know that up to 5 pounds can be due to Fluid retention. Just stick with it and you could be losing inches.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
