I was sleeved on December 18th and have done very well. I got into the habit of weighing myself every day which I now know was a mistake. Today when I weighed myself it showed I gained a pound and I was disappointed and confused. I'm getting my Protein in (55-70 per day). In fact I'm so focused on the protein I have not really been having too much of the other items my doc has allowed at this point. I have had Soup 2 times and mashed potatoes a couple of times. Here is my issue.... I am no longer feeling full for as long. I can drink more now than I could (can drink 8-11 oz in 30 minutes when before could only tolerate 3-4 in same period). Any thoughts or suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? Just feeling out of sorts. Maybe it is because I am more healed but would like to hear from others.

The increased drinking amount is due to the swelling going down. This is normal.

Would I feel full longer if I actually "ate" more (low fat cream Soup, cream of wheat, mashed potato) and drank less?

I was sleeved on 12/17 and feel I am doing well- I also have been weighing myself at least once a day- this morning the scale hadn't moved since yesterday morning, but from what I have read rhat is pretty normal. As for feeling full, I had the same question and I got some great advice from seasoned sleevers- the "fullness" feeling doesn't so much come into play until we start solids in a week or so. So I'd say you are doing great, keep up the good work!!!

Thanks Kendra! Glad to know someone feeling same way and especially since our dates are so close. I have been very pleased so far and proud I made it through the holiday so well. I am actually enjoying being more present with my family at meal times and less focused on what I am going to eat or on eating. That has been an unexpected benefit.

Feel free to weigh yourself every day, I do, but I only record the weight once a week. Your body fluctuates a lot throughout a day so it's just not accurate. As for feeling full you will get that once you're on solid food and focussing on Protein. Don't panic.

This is a great idea- thanks!

I'm also one of those that weighs myself every day, mostly because I find it fascinating how much the little that I do eat impacts my overall weight. Over time I came to realize that my weight loss follows a pretty set pattern. I'll lose a lot on one day, then the next 2-3 days it will fluctuate back up, sometimes by a couple pounds. It will return to the lower weight and then the next day, I'll lose a lot again. It's been pretty predictable now that I have a couple months of data to look at and my weight loss graph is pretty amusing.

I found that the more "solid" something is in terms of food the less I can eat and the fuller I stay. So straight liquids like Water? I can just kind of go nuts on those and really haven't ever found a point where I'm "full" of them. Soups are about the same. Potatoes and yogurts are a little better, veggies more than that, and then just eating meat (which is most of my diet at this point >.>) is what keeps me full the longest.

I was weighing daily and getting discouraged! My doc said to weigh weekly.

Obviously if it stressed you out don't do it. I don't react like that.

I'm still on full liquids, sleeved on the 17th of December. I have learned that I am over full when I feel pressure behind my sternum. It seems to only happen when the liquids are very thick. I also can drink 8 oz in about 30 mins-kinda freaked me out at first, afraid I overdid it. Of course, I usually try to sip.

It only stressed me out because I gained two pounds somehow lol

Thanks for the advice. I think looking for a pattern will help stop the freak outs :)

Joy0124

during your early stage of the sleeve (drinking, purees', mush) - many sleevers don't have that "full" feeling.

people usually start to feel that "full" "restriction once they start full solids

not sure what you are eating at barely 2 weeks??

you can NEVER drink too much. - the more you drink the better

good luck

My doc allows things like cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, smooth Soups, puddings starting week 2.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
