Did anyone have edema pre and post surgery? I was sleeved on 12/12 and went in with edema in both lower legs/ankles. Seemed to clear up some for 10 days and now is back to pre surgery levels. Of course, the scale numbers go up due to the Water retention. I don't see my doc until 1/3. Any ideas or suggestions for me between now and then?

Rest several times a day for about 20 minutes with your feet higher than your heart.

I had the same edema before surgery as you. It was gone three days after the sleeve and has not returned yet. Sleeved on 12-11-12. I 'm hoping it doesnt come back. Let's keep in touch and see how things go. I started puree yesterday for the next 30 days. Take care and watch the salt

I was sleeved in Houston I live in Austin. I put on 10 lbs the next two days after surgery. My surgeon had taken me of all my blood pressure meds.

Called and spoke to the nurse on that following monday after surgery took a water pill the next day I wa 8 lbs down. When I got home 7 days later the same thing started happening water weight plus my blood pressure was 160/100 Wow!

Since my cadio Dr. here in austin he told me to go back on all my meds water drop another 7 lbs my blood pressure is now normal. Can't fiqure out why this has happened but if you are on blood pressre I would certainly monitor it closely!! You made need a water pill. I was told this kind water retention could have put me into heart failure..Good luck! how is it going oterwise what kind of food ore you on now?cuteasabutton

Thanks - you know it could be my blood pressure meds. I was on one that had a Water pill built into it. My blood pressure was going too low for me (90/60) and they stopped the one that had the Water pill in it. That is about the time that the water weight started to come back. I was told by my pulmonary doc that I may need to go to a lymphology clinic, but won't do anything until I see my surgeon on 1/3.

I'm at the end of my soft diet stage and haven't had any problems with food thus far. I even had a small piece of beef tenderloin, thoroughly chewed, and I had no issues. I've been eating low sodium Soup, scrambled eggs, plain greek yogurt, a bit of mashed potatoes, a slice or two of Canadian bacon and still using Protein drinks.

I'll post if there is something further the doc says I should do.

Thanks, Proctor67. As you can tell from my reply to 'cuteasabutton,' I'm watching the salt! I don't add salt to anything on my plate and a small amount is used during cooking. I was told my soft diet phase is a week or so. I will likely start incorporating other foods, but rather slowly. I don't want to move too fast.

Looks like you are making excellent progress! Keep up the good work!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
