i was bnded on 7-14-06 and have had to 2 fills but no restriction and i know i have been eating too much but try to watch what i eat. but today and yesterday i have had a slight pain under the sterum it is not a sharp pain just pressure i have been eating nuts latelly could i have one stuck or something i do not have any problem swallowing and have not pb'd or slimed just this stupid little pain. i go monday for my 3rd fill and each time the dr has had some problem getting the saline into the port they can find the port but have trouble injecting the saline into it. i don't think they actually got any in the last fill. i have not lost any weight in the last 3 months but i have not been the best bandster still eat my chocolate but WAY WAY less than before the band and i have seen a loss of inches. i know i'm rambling but i'm full of questions.

These are all good questions for your Band surgeon.

Your pain under your sternum could be a classic band sign of 'overeating' or 'pushing your band' a bit. Sometimes eating tough, fibrous things (like broccoli and stuff like that) can make me get a twinge like that. So I stop before the 'twinge' becomes a pain.

So maybe that is the beginning of good restriction for you.

And less of course we usually eat less with the band, but please remember - without good restriction or fill - the band can, at best, just help us maintain.

If I stay at the same weight for an extended period of time, for me personally, that's a sign that I need a fill.

Good Luck to ya, OK?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
