Prayer Chain????

Recommended Posts

Has anyone here ever thought of starting a group prayer so we can list each day those that are receiving surgery in the upcoming week and pray for them??? Just a thought.

I agree I think this should be separate forum. I realize that originally this was the intent of support but support is sooo much more that you can't fish through all of it to find prayer requests. And, I went to prayer request link that you gave me (thank you) and noone posts on it cause we can't find it. How can we set up a forum for Prayers??? Anyone???

Great idea!!! I haven't had my band yet, but I'm in the process of seeing the surgeon and all that jazz, and I really think this is a wonderful way of supporting eachother.

I'm all for people posting threads like "Jane's Big Day is Monday!!" so others can post their thoughts of support and encouragement on them. But to my mind starting a separate prayer forum (or for that matter calling them "prayer requests") is unnecessarily exclusionary. Not everyone prays or feels comfortable offering prayers, but I'm sure ALL of us want to offer our support to people going in for surgery or who have other trying situations arising.

Let's try to be a big tent, OK? Another board I'm on is really big on support, and every day you'll see threads by and for people who can use prayers and good wishes for various reasons. But the threads aren't labeled as such; the prayers are offered in the threads by those who are so moved. Other people send whatever thoughts and wishes feel right to them.

It seems to me that putting "prayer request" in the titles might not invite everyone to participate. I'm certain that's not the goal, right?

Alexandra,

I'm adverse to exercising and it's a separate forum. Hypothetically, everything is exclusionary e.g. some people don't read the complications, but the title gives us the option. There's no consistent place and it's very inconvenient as such. It's a shame because I think a lot of people would like to do this...perhaps you could title a forum...IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOR UPCOMING SURGERIES? something of that nature... that's no exclusionary or is it???

Well, we already have a forum for support, so I'd think that's where those threads would go. Or maybe in the general discussion area. It just doesn't seem, to me, to be necessary to have a separate place just for good-wishes threads. Why not have them in the mix?

Your the boss...so folks this idea is mute. Thanks for those who responded and wished this would be done. For those of you who would like a prayer in your time of need feel free to email me.

I'll pray for you Alexandra. And, thanks for your attention to our matter.

I think its a great idea to seek support from each other for prayer....God will honor our efforts in prayer. A separate forum would make it user friendly.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
