they were banded?? I was curious to see how soon you started working out after being banded? Other than mild strolls around the block.

I started walking just a few days after surgery. I would listen to your doctors instructions because if you end up with a complication it will really set you back. You have plenty of time to do your exercise of choice once your stomach heals. Remember you are swollwen on the inside. Good luck!

My team of surgeons stated no exercise until 6 weeks, that is when the main healing time is up. One of them did, however, state last night at our support group that your body will continue healing that are of the body for up to a year later!! :wow2: They also said no pool, no jacuzzi, no bathtub for 6 weeks either. Until you hit that point, walking is about it (you're not even supposed to be bending over...). I'm just finding it tough to lose weight now because my first fill is scheduled for 8/16 and I miss going to Shapes due to the workout restrictions. I know that will really help me lose more in the meantime!

Banded 6/27/07 - VG band, Dr. Jose Erbella and Dr. Gary Bunch, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, FL.

I started an evening walk routine 3 days after surgery ... that night I walked 2 miles (to my own amazement) and I've decided to make it a nightly ritual. 2 weeks prior to surgery I "attempted" to walk one night ... after 10 minutes my calves hurt and I could barely breathe (and had to turn around and go home) Now I walk 2 miles easily with no tiredness, no sore legs, no huffing & puffing.

I am now looking for a way to get in exercise during the day too, trying to decide which workout machine to buy ...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
