I've decided that they give pain meds for a reason...so I'm going to start taking them again. :)

I've kind of spaced my pain meds out more. Mine says every 4 hours but I try to go 6 hours. My plumbing is doing ok both ways. Lol. My stomach woke me up making all kinds of noise. Not hungry but she was just noisy.

i was sleeved on 12/12 also, pain is mainly from getting in and out of bed - and just more sore feeling when sitting. Anyone have acidy feeling in their throat / heartburn when drinking Water? Like other people have said - so hard to keep down water.

I think I couldn't get comfortable enough. Yeah getting up and down was pretty sore. I'm 4th day out and feel pretty good. I heard it only gets better:)

Well, I went all day without pain meds today (sleeved 12-11) and it was just too much. I finally took some and am feeling so much better, even getting some good fluids in if not more Protein. :)

Glad you're all doing well! I was sleeved 12/10 and I'm just not hungry. Been forcing myself to "eat" usually a 1/4c of broth or Soup and I'm full. Been trying hard to get Water in. Yesterday I didn't do so well but today was better. I didn't get discharged until Thursday night and everyday is getting better! Except I keep getting random gas pains that started in my abdomen and hurt and I let out a huge burp and it goes away lol.

See you all around!

Hi girls, just a quick note to say that the first few weeks are the worst but it does get better every day. Keep walking and sipping and things will improve. Abdominal pain is totally normal and is caused by swelling and all the air they pump into you. Take things slowly with the second stage, there is no rush to have all the meals in one day if you are not up to it yet. I started on 1 a day and worked my way up. I started by having something at lunch time and progressed every few days from there. Try your best to get in your Protein and most importantly your Water. Again it gets easier to drink the further out you are, small and often is the key.

I hope this helps calm your fears a bit, remember everyone who has been sleeved has been there and prob felt the same fears you have so don't be scared to ask. Xxx

So sleeved on 12-12 and still have trouble taking Water Protein n meds. Each time I swallow I feel a gas bubble moving in my stomach. I haven't been able to pass gas or burp to get anything out. :(

I find a heating pad very relaxing n drinking warn liquids helps.

But I also didn't get the leak test done. When I asked the nurse she said my dr doesn't require it.

Sorry to hear your having such a hard time.. I was also sleeved on 12-12 and my Dr has me on Clear Liquids until 5 days post op at which point I start the full liquids stage which would include Protein shakes and things of that nature. I stopped my liquid pain meds at 2 days post op because it made my chest hurt and made my mouth water....I'm doing really well now and can't wait to have this darn drain removed 2mar!!! Also I find that the small bottles of low calorie G2 help alot.....wishing a speedy recovery for us all!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
