Sleeved 11/14. Only lost 8 lbs as of today. How is this possible? I am tolerating my diet. Hate to sound so negative but I am so disappointed and discouraged. I tell myself maybe this was not a good decision. food was my comfort. It never let me down. Started to feel depressed which I am trying to talk myself out of. Any suggestions on why I am barely losing weight?

Not drinking much Water, trying to get my Protein in. Can someone let me know what they have been eating? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I want to start walking for exercise but I pulled a muscle in my abdomen and I am in excruciating pain. surgeon told me the pain is nothing to worry about. It feels like a terrible burning inside.

At this point I will take any advice that could be offered. Thanks

Are you tracking your food in My Fitness Pal or another tracking system? I too was worried when I was eating 800 calories a day, walking and not loosing. Just hang in there and it will come off. I lost 7 pound the entire month of Nov. Are you getting in all of your Water? I think I was slow because I was not drinking enough. Someone posted a really good article on here about water weight and your body adjusting to the weight loss. It does seem shocking that you can eat so little and it not just fall off but you will lose it. Don't get discouraged yet.

I am in the same boat , I am very dissapointed at my weight loss , At first I was very excited when I lost 15 lbs on my pre op liquid diet , On the day of my surgery ( Nov 13, 2012) I was 222lbs , On the first week after my surgery I lost 7 lbs , I was really happy ....... but for the past 2 weeks I havent lost anything .... I am probably not taking in enough Water but I am trying to get in my Protein ... I know for a fact that I am not taking in more then 800 calories a day. This is what my typical day looks like . Decaf coffee with cream and equal , Protein Shake , Greek yogurt or cottage cheese , Cup of creamy Soup or an instant cup of mashed potatoes ..... I tried eating an egg and hummus but I could only get down about 2 tsp of each and felt so full ( I didnt like the feeling) a few days ago , I tried tuna with mayo and threw up , so I been sticking to full liquids and puree foods. Why am I not losing anything???

You aren't even three weeks out yet. 8lbs may not be as fast as some, but it isn't slow. It's nearly three pounds a week. Three weeks out is a tough time to be at both mentally and physically. I promise you it gets better. You will lose this weight. Don't concentrate on how much/how fast, just concentrate on doing the right things and it will come off. It may not come off as fast as you think it should, but that doesn't mean your sleeve isn't working. Hang in there!

I don't think 8lbs is too slow. In the beginning the most important thing is to recover, let you body take its time to readjust to the new mechanics and heal. Concentrate on your pre op instructions, get plenty of Water and give yourself time.

I was/am a slow loser... the sleeve is the only thing that has ever worked for me... any other diet or programme - whatever you want to call it - just made me feel like a failure as I could ever shed more than 7lbs! Now at overt two years out I have lost 10x that and it is staying off.

Good luck... give yourself time and be kind to yourself. It does get better.

Be patient with your body and yourself. Everyone that I have talked to had a three week stall for 1-2 weeks. You are losing inches but not pounds during this time. So stay off the scale and just pay attention to how your clothes are fitting looser. Also make sure you are drinking Water, your body tends to hold onto everything it can right now because its in starvation mode. It will keep coming off just hang in there :)

Well I thought it was just me! I was sleeved on 11/12 and to date have only lost 10lbs! I am very frustrated by this. I thought it was due to Constipation (which was horrible) - but I fixed that problem to the best of my ability and then I thought I was dehydrated - which I kinda was - so I hit Water like it was nobody's business and still NOTHING. REALLY?! I feel like **** and am eating hardly anything: Here is what a typical day looks like for me - water - little coffee - scrambled egg made with water - almost a whole stonyfield yogurt smoothy - dinner is either soup; or a little mashed potatoes. tonight I made two scallops and was able to barely eat them. Then more water. I know it is not enough Protein but I would rather stick a needle in my eye than drink another protein shake! LOL. Why do some people lose 20lbs in one week? I'm hoping this all changes and soon. I can't exercise much other than walking my dog, because I feel so weak. Please keep me posted how you're doing as it makes me feel better to know I'm not alone...:)

So comforting knowing I'm not alone. I am tolerating mostly everything. I am not getting full often. I can eat a entire bowl of soup , last night I had a small amount of grilled chicken. I am 100% definitely not taking enough Water. Did not have much pre-op teaching and I think it's showing now. I guess being a nurse and knowing what I know, I thought I would be able to handle this surgery. Lets stick together. We cannot give up. Please keep in touch. Private message me. Is there a way to make a friends list? Good luck. It's hard to talk to my friends and family because as much as they support me, they have very little understanding of my feelings. ( besides my mother of course).

Take a deep breath and relax! :) Your body has been through some serious trauma and besides the healing it's working on, it's also getting used to operating on much less food! It's in survival mode right now.

Just don't compare your progress to anyone elses! Every person is different, with many factors that affect how much weight they lose, how often and the inevitable stalls that ALL of us have experienced many times.

You'll look back at this and laugh at your panic state, and months down the road, you will be so happy you did this for yourself.

Believe me, you are not alone. My concern is that I am able to eat. Rarely will I get full. Water is hard for me, not doing to good in that department. I also eat eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, weight watchers string cheese, Soup, grilled chicken, Beans, Decaf coffee and a few other things. I know I'm not eating too much quantity.

The one other question that I have is even if we never had the surgery, our diets changed drastically. ( decrease fat, calories ) I feel we should be losing weight just for that reason.

Craving diet coke with lemon and a Greek salad with grilled chicken. Yummmm

Be careful about how much you are eating, your nerves are not functioning and so you really can't tell when you are full until about 6 weeks out. Eat off small plates and small bowls and measure and record everything!! Use small eating utensils so you eat slower and wait at least a minute or two between bites. If you are eating larger portions that you should be you are not letting the sleeve work for you. You want it to remain as small as possible :)

I am 5 months post op. I have only lost 40 lbs since my surgery. I know its hard not to get caught up in what others are doing. I am just going to come to terms that I will be slow at loseing the weight. I have noticed in the past 2 months that I only will lose the weight one time a month. So I will go 3 weeks and not lose anything then I will have maybe a 3 to 4 lb weight loss. And I dont drink very much Water. I am thinking that may have something to do with it

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
