Surgery was 11/12/12 for me... 6 weeks later I'm down 31.

Current weight 209 :)

I wanted to be 200 by New Years... But won't make my goal by that date. ..

Oh well- I'm still very happy about my weightloss :)

I was 326 when I started pre-op diet. I weighed 305 on surgery day ( 11/28 ). I weighed in today at 282. I've lost 23 pounds since surgery and a total of 44 pounds since I started this journey. Congrats to everyone. We will all be big losers soon. :)

hi I had my sleeve done Nov. 7th. Doing well been able to eat 1 oz of meat & 1/4 cup of fruit or veggies per meal. Have lost 54 lbs so far. My NUT told me to make sure I drank 2 premier shakes a day to reach Protein goals. So far it's working out well. Most days I get in all the fluids ...... that seems to be the thing I have to focus on the Most. If I don' t drink all the fluids my lower plumbing does' t work. And then I am so uncomfortable. Drinking all the fluids makes a HUGE difference.

I started this journey back in sept 2011 and weighed in at 336 I had to loose 21 before surgery for insurance purposes. After all loosing the weight and going through the two week pre op diet I weighed in at 213 DOS Nov 1st 2012.

The first week I lost 14 then had a 0 week after that boy that was frustrating. Now almost two months out I am at 282. Down 29 from surgery and 52 overall. Very happy about that but frustrated this past week or so since I have stalled again.

Is it still taking everybody over 30 minutes to eat meals? Even when I chew food so well, and pause between bites, it will only take 15-20 minutes. Wondering if I should just stop between bites for a few minutes

Very good question. I find it difficult for the first few bites but then I seem to be picking up speed and sizes of bites too. I don't necessarily eat more just faster, even when I tell myself to slow down. It takes me about 15-20 min too.

Me too. It takes time but I get it done pretty quick. I'm still eating small amounts and get full easy. But I think the quantity is more what I am concerned with.

Good!! Thought it was only me! It's only 2-3 ounces of food, but I wanted to make sure I was the weird one ;-)

George it's only taking maybe 15 minutes for me too.

I am about the same ad well. Veggies seem to fill me up more than the protein.

I made galumpkis last night and the cabbage is going down well surprising enough. I can only eat half at a time but that's ok too. Lol. I also used grated zucchini and crook neck squash instead of rice. Came out better than the old rice version.

I usually eat in about 20-25 min. I had the flu for 7 days in mid December, and I'm sure that it slowed my weight loss. My goal was to be at 199 by Christmas and I didn't make it :(. I'm happy with my weight loss so far!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
