My Diet At 21 Months Post Op

Recommended Posts

Helloooooooooo everyone! Yes it has been awhile since I was last here. I recently had my 18 month check up. When I told the nut what my daily diet consisted of her jaw hit the floor. All over me eating fruit. I was shocked. I do believe my weight may flucuate 2-5 pounds a month due to tom. I haven't gained any weight since being sleeved. My current weight is......139 pounds even. So I questioned her on why she would rather me NOT eat fresh fruit? Her reply was that my body will store the natural sugars as fat. Well, let me shed some light on this. When I did not incorperate fresh fruits and veges into my diet I was a slug. Meaning that I had no damn energy. Eating processed foods was the culprit for that. Also, not having any "natural" sugar my glucose would bottom out to where I would be seconds from hitting the floor. Since I have cut out all processed foods and eat MORE fresh FRUIT and VEGES I do not have any issues. I can't wait till my 24 month check up. BTW, I lost 4 inches in my waist. Current waist size is 26 1/2 inches! Current dress sze is a 6. So I will continue to eat all the fresh fruits and veges that my little tummy will hold. To everyone just getting out of the proverbal gate, I wish all of you the very best and much success on your journey!!!!!!! :) (Trial and error is how I found out what made me feel better and have much more energy and I sleep better.)

There seems to be a divide among nutritionists regarding fruits. Personally, I'm 100% convinced that eating fresh fruits did not make me fat. I'm pretty sure it was processed flours, added sugars, and excessive oils that made me FAT! Now sure, when you're trying to loose weight, I totally get that you have a limited number of calories and you need to focus on getting in Proteins and also vegetables because vegetables are more micronutrient dense than fruits. As long as your maintaining your weight and are able to still get in all of you required nutrients, I really don't see the problem.

LOL!!!!Yes I agree, fruits and veges didn't make me fat either. It was all of those Cookies, cakes, Pasta, gravies and bread. Labs are off of the charts. Eveything looked really great during that visit. So no worries here. Best of luck to you!

Wow, my doc says no fruit for at least six months... I miss fruit. I am almost six weeks out and only allowed eggs and fish. I cheat and have greek yogurt, hummus and low carb Soups...

Every nut & doc is different on the dietary guidelines. In the begining I was told to eat when I felt "empty" by the list of foods and at what stage. Then it went to okay log everything including portion and time of day. (Didn't understand that then, the time of day thing now I do) Now it is NO SNAKING and NO FRUITS. Three meals and at least 1100 calories. Well needless to say I barely meet the 1100 cals. By everything that has been checked I'm in very, very good health. Then to top it off my primary is completly amazed at how well I have done. All in all it is good.... (I was eating watermelon and cantalope at 12 weeks. Oh it tasted so good!!!!!!!!!!)

What is SNAKING? And why is the time of day important?

The nut didn't want me "snacking" between meals and by eating the same time everyday will regulate your hormones which can (some believe assist in weight loss dpending on who you ask) I was told no ranch dressing with raw veges. Not even lo-cal. She considers raw fruits and veges, almonds "snackng"

My Nut asked me to cut back on the nut butters. I LOVE Peanut Butter & was eating it every day. She asked me to cut back to 3 times a week. I have & I'm okay with it. I eat raisins, cottage cheese, beets & pickles as Snacks. Before it would have been Cookies or cakes. I was 232 lbs when I started this journey on Easter Monday, now I'm 145 lbs. Water is still an issue, but it always will be for me. I was never a big water drinker. I will drink it with orange or lemon slices in it, so I always have those available.

I think everyone is different and reacts differently to certain foods. We each need to figure out what is right for us and go with it. It is a continuous journey to finding our own healthy lifestyle!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
