I stop eating or drinking with the first hiccup.......otherwise I BP for 24 hours. I guess we are all different....and this is a warning sign for me.

Hiccups are my signal that I've had just enough to eat, not overeaten. I hiccup once or twice and know to stop.

Hiccups tell me STOP now. If I don't I am uncomfortable for at least an hour. Sometimes I begin the PB routine which, next to sticking my finger in the light socket, is my favorite thing to do.

I have been fooled a few times...where I hiccup once and then no more so I take a few more bits and holy cow I want to find the highest bridge. So thru trial and error I have learned.

Hiccup to me is like a cop with a ticket book...I'll give you a warning mister if you stop. otherwise you get the ticket and pay the piper

Hiccups ,for me, is my "Here's Your Sign"......not another bite!

Unique as we are, our body blesses us with these red flags....it's our responsibility to listen, obey or suffer the consequenses.

I also gurgle when I sip Water or any liquid too fast....

Kmoorhead......PB means "productive burping"....or what has gone down is fixin' to come back up....it's not pretty! lol Listen to your body signals and you will not experience it often! Good luck hun!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
