2.2cc in band... what should I be able to eat?

Hi Everyone,

I just got my 3rd fill and am up to 2.2cc in my 4cc band. Tonight for dinner I ate a hamburger patty with cheese, two slices of Tomato and 4 slices of canned peaches. Is this a good amount to be eating? I am wondering if I am at my sweet spot- although I know I won't know until I see if I start losing weight at about 2 lbs per week. Just wondered what everyone else was eating. Can you give me examples and amounts?

Thanks!

Shannon

The effectiveness of each fill varies from person to person. I have a good restriction at 2.6cc's. My doctor says not to compare numbers on fill amounts. When I was at 2.3 I could definitely eat more than I do now, but feel like this restriction is better and I will probably add a little more at my next scheduled fill in Sept. In my opinion, the amount of food you are eatingis OK, but you may want a little more restriction to hit the ever elusive sweet spot. I couldn't possibly eat what you are eating right now. As long as you continue to lose weight and are happy with your progress then you don't need a fill. I am in my 50's and the weight loss has been slow so I am going for a fairly tight restriction to get the scales moving downward.

Good Luck with your continued success.

Shannon, if you're losing weight that's all that matters. If you're not losing weight then you need another fill. There really is no magic number for cc's and no magic portion size (we all start out requiring different amounts of calories).

I had zero restriction until I hit 2.5ccs. Some people have made it to goal with no fill. It's very individual.

If you're losing--relax and enjoy!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
