Talk Me Down Off The Ledge

Recommended Posts

Sleeved 9/17 & have had successful weight losses. Almost 50 pounds. I'm not scale obsessed at all, but just went on & gained 1.5 pounds...not doing anything different...help! Is this normal??

It could possibly be Water retention. Have you had anything with a lot of sodium? Broths, canned veggies, etc.?

Also do you weigh in the morning after going to the bathroom? a little tmi... but that's the best time to weigh after bowels/bladder has been emptied. If you do it at night, you could still have stuff inside you which makes the scale go up! 1.5 pounds is not something too major especially if you're exercising. If the scale keeps going up and up, then you should talk to a doctor/dietician

It happens. My biggest gain (6 pounds) was after I was on a very physical vacation. I was working out and eating right and expected a huge loss. Instead, I had a gain. It came off within the week. I think it had something to do with Water weight.

Normally, my weight will go up and down by a couple pounds from day to day. As long as the trend is downward overall, I don't worry. I don't let it throw me off my gain, and I keep on track with diet and exercise.

Oh my, you are ok! It will come right off, don't stress it, it's just a fluctuation/ rearrangement of fluids. It won't be the first time this happens!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
