Cheddar Cheese Help

Recommended Posts

I just have a quick question on cheese. I am in the pureed stage (2 weeks out) and my doc said I can now have eggs and lowfat cheese. Does anyone know what the maximum fat content should be? I bought Kraft reduced fat sharp cheddar made with 2% milk (6 gm fat) but I barely got through 1/2 of my scrambled egg and cheese mixture before I started feeling uncomfortable. Thank you.

Well being two weeks out it is understandable that you can not eat an entire egg. As far as cheese goes I don't really look at low fat/high fat/ no fat. I do consume laughing cow light(these are delicious), and a light Jarlsberg that I like but for all others cheddar, mozzarella I eat what I like. At 11 weeks I have lost 51 pounds!!

I buy the Kraft 2%, personally. The discomfort isn't likely the cheese, it's the egg & you being full. Half an egg with cheese is what I was eating 4 weeks out.

I think that counts as reduced fat cheese. But as far as eating goes - eggs are filling! At six+ months I can eat one egg or two egg whites with 1/2 ounce cheese with two bites of veggies. I would have been able to eat maybe a tablespoon of eggs at your stage - maybe less.

My dietician told me for this stage to just use the skim motzerella cheese. I bought some shredded and also string cheese.

My nutritionist said cheeses with 5g of fat and less per serving are ideal. He also said that the reality is, especially while dining out, it's not always possible to find cheeses that are that low-fat, so memorize some- like mozzarella and Parmesan.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
