I've done re-fried Beans out of a can with a tiny, tiny bit of bacon grease--for flavor.

They went down really well, no problem.

I tried adding salsa and a tiny bit of cheese...that didn't go so well. One bite and that was it. It was a no go.

I'm 4 1/2 weeks out.

I have been eating Taco Bell re-fried Beans. it's .99 cents and I get 2 meals from it. It has a little cheese and mild sauce. Very smooth and goes down well. Also helps with Constipation. I also made a double batch of turkey chili with chili and kidney beans that is yummy and you get the Protein from the beans and turkey. it is amazing how such small portions go so far. i have to eat food with taste or I'll get too bored. So far so good. Good Luck

Taco Bell has a black bean burrito but it has rice so you may have to wait a couple more week. I usually can only eat half at one setting. Also add goat cheese to the refried Beans. It melts easier and is thinner.

You can also try small cup of Wendy's chili. I have them put cheese on top, very flavorful, it is one cup so I get two meals.

You can just get a bowl of black beans on the side, with or without rice. It's part of the new menu. Plus the people should have no problem modifying stuff to fit your diet. I work for taco Bell and we have no problem giving people a little bowl of chicken and beans for surgery patients.

I have done taco bell Beans since right after surgery. One of the first things I wanted. I never liked taco bell before surgery.

And then there is the other side of things. I tried Taco Bell pintos and cheese with no cheese at about where you are now. I took one bite or two and threw up in their parking lot outside for the first time. I've never tried them again after that. My tummy doesn't like the bell anymore. I think it may have just been the red sauce that made me sick. Idk but I don't want to do that again so I stay away hope it works for you. Try tiny bits to test your stomach.

Did well. I will add that to my list. I agree, the sauce is probably what did in.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
