Work Out Pants

Recommended Posts

I'm a size 18 and want to go work out in the gym. But I have no workout clothes and don't want to stick out like a sore thumb. I don't want to wear any tight spandex like clothes. Can anyone tell me what to wear and where to buy it? Thanks!

Since you will be shrinking I wouldn't invest too much money. Walmart carries danskin brand for a reasonable price. Or just get some sweats from the men's side.

So sweats are acceptable workout clothes?

Obviously i'm nervous abt going to the gym. I swim at the gym, but have never been upstairs to the workout room.

Thanks!!

Definitely. You want something breathable and comfortable. My mom would never go to the gym because she thought people would be staring at her. Honestly people are too busy doing their workouts to notice you. I've seen people walk on treadmills with jeans on. Whatever makes you comfortable (unless your gym has rules for attire).

Girl, get your exercise on. Kohl's, Target and Walmart are good options.

Okay so "sweats" are really no longer fashionable. As another poster said Walmart has a line of Danskin workout wear made of a lovely cotton stretch material. So they are not sweat material. You can wear a matching top that they have too, not cotton but a sweat wicking material and very stylish. Have fun!!

I HATE Walmart brand workout pants because they shrink in the dryer. Heck I'm only 5'3 and they always end up very short. I'm a busy mom with 3 kids and I need pants that I can throw in the washer and dryer and not have to worry about them becoming high waters lol I do wear them around the house though because they're comfortable. I prefer Old Navy compression pants. I swear they make me look like I'm a size smaller. I am a size 18 and they don't shrink in the dryer. Also if you're like me and have dimples on the back of your thighs the compression pants will smooth them out. Here's the link to the pants I purchased a week ago http://oldnavy.gap.c...1&pid=865679002

I personally wouldn't wear sweat pants unless I was lounging around the house and I would probably stand out in a bad way if I wore them to the gym. If I look like crap then I tend to have a horrible workout but if I'm wearing something that makes me look good or feel sexy, I tend to kick butt. :)

I tend to go more for yoga pants (fitted around thigh, looser from knee down) but I have some jogging (& danskin too) that I'll wear at the gym. All black (lol IS there another color???) with a long tshirt. I've gotten most of mine at target & kmart but my old navy ones are nice, too.

My gym wouldn't notice sweat pants at all, but i personally won't wear them bc they are so heavy & itchy.

I usually wear the Walmart Danskin brand capris workout pants with T shirts. I dont have problem with shrinkage. The are very comfortable an "in" style. Since my confidence has increased with weightloss, I have recently moved up to more stylish and attention getting compression capris from JC Penney. Very cute black with accent bright colors that are flattering. $15.

I say wear what is comfortable. I've been in and out of gyms since my high school football days. Growing up my best friends dad owned a gym. And I can tell you no one cares what anyone else is wearing at the gym.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
