Apprehensive . . . Sorry, Long And Rambling

Recommended Posts

I'm being sleeved the day after tomorrow ( the day before Thanksgiving).

I started out between 255 and 260, woke up today to 194.9, so I'm wondering why I need surgery?

That said, I'm thinking long term. I've lost before only to put it all back on again. Since I started this journey back in June, I've felt strong and committed to the process of regaining my health, and I still feel very capable. But that long term thing hangs in my mind.

I can't begin to count the number of times I've felt sure I had this food thing down, only to go back to mindless eating. That is what keeps me wanting the surgery.

Now, though, it's a mere two days away and my mind is spinning out of control.

All opinions welcome, I'm feeling conflicted.

We all struggle with this too. Then we rem  ember that we couldn't keep it off. I know that when I was eating less, I was always hungry. I knew that if I didn't have this surgery, I couldn't sustain my portion sizes for very long. I also realized that I didn't really need to eat that much food anyways. I know that this is just a tool and my work is fighting my head hunger on a daily basis. Those habits do sneak back in very quickly. So i believe this is the right choice for us. I am so thankful for my sleeve and would do it again in a heart beat...........

This is why I am doing it... I have lost weight on my own, only to eventually put it right back on... I want this to be the absolute last time!

Good Luck! Only you can make this choice but in my opinion getting sleeved is a good one... I can't wait until my surgery on 12/12/12!

Cholula

255 to 194 congrats

great weight loss

WooHoo

the comment "but that long term thing hangs in my mind" - "mind is spinning out of control"?

many, most of us sleevers, have repeatedly gained, lost, gained weight prior to WLS....

"we've" tried so many times to keep the weight off - but the "devil" keeps winning

if it were easy to lose the weight and then keep it off - great

its so hard to keep the weight off, we try and try, its ok to finally say "UNCLE"

you've done great losing your weight - that shows such will power (i call it won't power - i won't eat this, i won't eat that ;) )

shows how committed you are, and you are ready to turn your life around with the sleeve helping you with eating better, healthier - allowing you to keep your weight off "forever" and long as you follow the "rules"

you made the wise decision to have the sleeve, you went through alot of preparation, - you are so close, 2 days away from one of the most important events of your life

please don't 2nd guess yourself now ok????

good luck with WLS

speedy recovery

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
