Normal Ever Come Back?

Recommended Posts

Hello sleepers! I'm 12 days post op. I just want to know at what point did you start to feel like you had a normal stomach again. Today I'm obviously in regret stage I'm down 11lbs or more and I am been doing on for most part except that I hate hate the fact that I don't feel normal anymore. I drink I feel all my insides if I eat I feel all my insides.... It's so annoying. When do I eat ever again and just eat without such feelings. HELP? Motivation needed!

I'm 8 weeks out this week and my stomach doesn't feel like my old one, which was my previous "normal." I'm VERY glad that my stomach has changed! It makes crazy noises sometimes, it can get cranky, it is not particularly fond of sugar, it doesn't like turnips or G2, it is gassy and acts like a diva. Hmmm.... I haven't named my sleeve yet and that seems appropriate. Diva Sleeva or Sleeve Diva ...will work on that.

I am a year and it took m some timeto figure out what I can eat...there will be some things that u ate all the time before the surgery that u might never eat again... I cant eat steak anymore. Its take too long to chew and it is hard to digest. Make sure u take advantage of ur current stage....u wont have an appetite...but it will copme back out of no where!!!!!!

As already stated it takes about 6 months to be able to get a good appetite back, at about 1 year you can really start to eat a lot more and about 2 years out you can really pack away the food - although NOTHING like what you can pre-op. So use the time well to train yourself in good eating habits.

I'm only 6 days out so I'm not 'there' yet but I really think we find a new sense of normal over time. I wouldn't want to go back to feeling like my old stomach because that's what made me obese. Eventually we'll get to a point where it will feel okay to eat food and our sleeves won't be so rough. Mine makes a lot or noise too and I get pain if I eat or drink too fast. I think it's about it adapting and us adapting to work with it. We'll get there!

I am 2 months post op and I already notice that I can eat more then right after the surgery and it scared me :) I am still not normal but I feel great. the one thing what I still didn't learn to stop before I start burping...... and probably chew very well.

Thanks all I have intake control and I'm not really hungry because I'm following my plan its the yucky stomach feeling that I hate so much at this point. I don't want to feel so yucky when eating but time will work it out. It sounds like 6 months is the turning point :) keeping positive is key :)

Delta, Normal doesn't mean to be Huge and able to eat a elephant :)

I'm now 5 days out and feeling a lot better than I was before, but yeah, every sip is met with some kind of gurgle or reply from my stomach, not to mention the sharp pain if I have anything without sitting upright. (Guess my posture will improve as well ^_^). My problem is that my doctor wants me to spend the 3 weeks post surgery consuming only yogurt, milk, Protein Shakes, and pureed fruit, I'm on day 3 of this and am already soooo bored and hating Protein shakes.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
